All right then I have it nailed (at least for version 1 of this engine)

Keeping stock valves, I will run the silvertop oil pump and am currently shopping for a T3 turbo and manifold.

fwiw i know for sure the head has already been ported out, it may have some valvetrain work done already, the only changes i will be making(again if they not been done already) is a 5 angle job on the valves, upgraded springs and the 1sz bucket conversion.

i will run 264 intake and 256 exhaust. I already have the quad throttle manifold to fit the ST itbs, i will need to build/buy some sort of plenium/intake chamber but that is easily accomplished.

the c56 may tear apart on me sometime and when it happens i will be looking for a stronger box with lsd, until then........

oldcorollas - i am going to try and make stupid power just not power stupidly thanks for your input

revhead. - thanks as well, if i could have my pick of anything i would be starting with a smallport head but my wife is already asking why i have what i have and how much it costs.

ben - on the next go around i will definately be going oversize, i am just too anxious to get going on this and headwork means a longer wait.

30psi - you put a huge grin on my face when i read your post.

thanks to all, i will rep what i can.

again if your interested i will be posting my progress as it happens.

only other piece of advice id give is choose a GOOD ecu, that you can get tuned localy by a GOOD tuner.

Yup, microtech, I had ordered earlier this week and was lucky enough to catch them early enough so i can get the 30psi map upgrade.

My engine builder advised me to go the other way with staggered Cams having the larger duration on the exhaust due to the poor flow of the 4AGE exhaust

That's good advice but only if the Exhaust port can't really be rectified (via porting) due to flow path and wall thickness. There is more power to be gained by correcting a bad Exhaust port then there is in compensating for it via the Exhaust camshaft.

I had a quick look at the 16v small Head cut-away and the exhaust Ports look fine. If its similar to the big port Head, then I'ld say stick to the 264 intake and 256 exhaust as planned.

Remember Combustion pressures reach 1500+ psi so a larger (area under the curve) camshaft is not really necessary in most post 70's Engines.
Rep points are for those who feel inadequate in other areas !

Any other thoughts on this, I had found a website a while ago that talked extensively about running staggered cams but i cannot find it now. (i somehow forgot to get an up-to-date backup made of my bookmarks before upgrading to leopard so i lost about 3 months worth of em)

off topic- has anyone noticed how google search results are slowly going away from information and more towards selling you a product? its really annoying. (especially since i am an apple user and google search is built in)

I'd be interested in links to cam discussions when you dig them up, moreso NA but curious about it all.

Post them here for the good of all.
