    Default suspension upgrade ??

    guys,

after some advice for suspension setup.

it's for a 1982 corona. after some general advice on springs and shocks.

need to get it pretty stiff so it will handle thrashing around on a skidpan and track all day.

any ideas on spring choices and shock choices. don't want to go down the path of coilovers just yet. but would like a basic setup that will handle smooth stuff ok.

oh. ad cheepness is the key !!!

    cheers

    James

Don't get Monroe GTs. They are terrible. Shocks are something you really do need to spend a little on. For cheapness... I'd possibly be looking at something like the non-adjustable KYBS that justcallmeorlando bought from ebay in the US. They were cheap then when our dollar was poor; they'd be even cheaper now.

I'm not particularly fond of King Lows either - they aren't even captive at full drop - however I have a pair for the front for sale if you are interested (cheapness is no longer the key for me; I now have coilovers).

    KYB ExcelG shocks

whatever "sport low" or "low" springs you can find, superlows will not be better

swaybars, either double up std ones, or get aftermarket ones.

any ideas on part numbers ??

i'll probably just stick with some springs at this stage. thinking something like a pedders or king spring as long as it's stiff. and with the rear end welded i'll just try make some negative camber with this new cross member.

better off doing dampers b4 springs, if the car feals bouncy and unstable it wont have anything to do with the springs.

you'l get a firmer ride with a decent damper in there but if you just upgrade springs it may turn into a 4 wheeled pogostick.

i got to get the car up high to for rallying .

and the car is considerably lighter now to. can anyone recomend a good suspension place in penrith or lower blue mountains. the place needs to able to weight the car and work out correct spring weights ( at least for a base setting for rallying ) then we can play from there !!

wholesale suspension is probly your best bet, stuart wilkins motorsport/rallying is another good one but be prepared to spend dollars as they dont recomend crap products.

whats wrong with a H/D standard style spring? should be fine for dirt work.

what are your plans for it?
how much do you want to spend?
how much suspension travel are you looking for?

are you just talking local motorkhana's and rallies etc or more competition orientated? as that will be the deciding factor on how much you would need to spend.

looking for cheep option at the moment. so probably just a set of springs and shocks for the front.

nothing to overboard - around the $500 mark tops !!

can't use standard stuff cause the front is so light it just lifts up in the air !!! so i'm after someone who can weigh it and work out the correct rates for springs.

    well spend some dollars today.

pretty mush some HD stuff to get a start point to work out what needs to barder and what needs to be softer.

    thanks
