im not sure but the hose to the plenum is probably to warm up the inlet. Most likely there to help with emissions. you should be able to block it off at its inlet and outlet but leave the hose on incase you get a mongrel copper.
Hey guys,
Got a question about the small water line that goes to top of the inlet plenum on an EFI setup. What is that for and can it be blocked off?
All my water lines are caaked up with rust. The metal water pipe that runs accross the front of the engine was the culprit.
Does anyone have a good one they can sell me?
I was thinking of running a rubber hose accross the front and blocking off the to plenum....?
any ideas?

If it's the throttle body you're talking about then it's to stop the throttle icing up in cold weather. Since you're never likely to see weather that cold you can simply disconnect it.![]()

The metal pipe that goes across the front of the engine is a bugger. You can either run a rubber hose in its place, or get some stainless tube the right diameter, bend it into shape (use a pipe bender) and then take it to Pirtek/Enzed or other such hose mob and have them bulb the ends so a hose clamp will fit properly.
As for the coolant into the intake, I would block it off. Got nothing to do with emmissions (as Norbie said), and will just increase your intake temps which is bad mmmkay!!

does much even flow thru that pipe? Comes from thermostat with a larger pipe and then the other end is a tiny little pipe????
Can someone explain its function?
thanks

Its a bypass and isnt meant to give much more than a trickle. Basically when the thermostat is shut off (cold) the water pump cant complete the circuit through the radiator, so that little pipe is where all the water that the pump pushes when the motor is cold goes through to stop the pump cavitating. It has to be small otherwise water wont go through the radiator when the engine warms up.
