Does anyone know if a 5speed c60 'box from a zzw30 mr2 can cope reliably with around 200bhp and 150-175 lbs.
If so will the bellhousing from my c52 fit so i can mate it to a 4age?

the 6 spd for a 4a is a C160

Thanks Bill, I was wondering if i could fit the bellhousing from my c52 to the c60.
I realise the c60 is normally 6 speed, but the box i looked at is from a 5 speed zzw30 (mrs, you may know it as spyder) and had c60 inside the bellhousing.![]()
that's a C56 I think.
I've found a JDM c52 from a Starlet turbo with an lsd, i know i have to swap the bellhousing, but the fd ratio will suit my 13" wheels better, but will it live with the power? (200bhp, 150-175lbs/ft). Ive not seen the box yet, do they have plate type lsd's or torque biasing. An E series box is a bit heavy for my requirements.
Just out interest it seems the c60 is usually attatched to 1zz's and c64's to 2zz's.
thanks![]()
Yes it'll handle the torque and yes they have a Salisbury type (plate/clutch) LSD.

Thanks Bill, that was quick![]()
Incidently, searching around i could find plenty of info on rwd box's, but not so much on fwd ones. ie what fits what, torque capability, ratios etc
nope, C6x gearboxes were only attatched to 2ZZ-GEs (not sure what the mr-s 6 speed tiptronic is though).Originally Posted by motormad
C-60 was in the Celica
C-64 in the Corolla and Lotus
The only difference in the 2 gearboxes is a slightly taller 6th gear ratio in the C-64
1ZZ-FE engines, even int eh celica, came with 5 speed gearboxes, of course other than the tiptronic 6 speed though.
They still use the C-64 (with an LSD) in the supercharged corolla and Lotus Exige so it can handle the torque.
Anyway thanks for everyones input![]()

yeah I need some info on FWD boxes as well. Are all the 4a ones the same. Will a 4afe box bolt to a 4age? Excluding the Mr2 box, is there a prefered one in regards to power handling?Originally Posted by motormad
