Ive been doing this for a while now and i charge $350 if someone brings me the pump , BUT BUT BUT . your still left with a crystallised plastic water pump immpeller which could fail and you cant buy this by itself from toyota.
Dave
I had a leaky water pump in my jza70
so i was facing getting all new thermo fans and replacing the pump with a 2jz unit, as everyone seems to do.
my mechanic tho really didnt want to do this and was determined to keep the factory hydrofan setup. so he rang around toyota and managed to order all replacement gaskets and seals for the 1jz water pump alone ( nothing to do with hydrofan section ).
so it ended up costing me around $100 for the parts and i got to retain the factory hydrofan setup![]()
so anyone facing this problem in the future. Yes there is a way to keep your factory hydrofan. and No u do not have to change to a 2jz water pump
i hope this helps some ppl at least
cheers
blake.
