The main difference from their website is the way they treat the metal to ensure more consistent temperature spread through the rotor. Tis a moot point for me though, I've got no "standard" option

Nath - Belmont Auto Engineers gave me my RDA rotors in the S-Dub for $75 each.

be careful with the RDA ones though, you need to take them to get coated and machined before fitting them or they will rust and warp. Trust me i know!

Coated and machined? What do you mean? My RDA rotors on the XX look a little dodgy on the hat, but work perfectly.

apparently RDA rotors need some kind of plating on them to stop rusting... i whacked mine on without coating and within a week out in the rain they were rusting BAD!

also they vibrate a lot on deceleration now too.. so i'm going to have to pull them off and get them machined.

Strange, I decided to try some RDA's this time round and I get them turning blue at the track with heat and they still run true as the day I got them. Haven't had any rust issue either, but I don't live near the sea.

yeah its quite strange.. i cant explain why they rusted so quickly either. but i spoke to some guys about it and they said the same thing that yeah they will rust if you dont coat them.

mind you my SW20 was sitting parked out the front of the house for 2 weeks and it didnt move at all.. so thats partly why it was as bad as it was.

Mine's sat for ages out the front. When it rains they get a smidge of surface rust on the rotor. One or two brake applications and they're clean as a whistle again. The hats developed a layer of surface rust but haven't changed since.

How would you prevent the coated surface from getting warn down by the pads anyway? Seems like a waste of time to me.

its the rest of the rotor which is not coated on the RDA's, whereas DBA's are

fwiw, lots of stock rotors aroudn here do the same thing. 1 or 2 days and rust comes along...
apparently it could be because of acidic rain, or the surface the car is on is acidic/caustic (even a little) and getting splashed up onto the rotors (and rest of car )

as long as the rust doesn't stick in the pads... all good... rotors are consumables anyway..
