    Default I SSUES ISSUES ISSUES, 20 valve

    Ok, well story goes, a few months ago i had some issues with my car, i believe i had a thread here about it, the car stuterring and not performing sometimes, putting foot down and feeling like their was no fuel or spark, it was a pain in the arse, didnt happen all the time but now and then and usually when the car was warm/hot.
    I eventually took it to the mechanics who diagnosed it as the TPS being faulty, so i replaced it with a new one,
    Lately it has been having the same issues again, but not as fequent, perhaps once every few days and it has been increasing more and more,
    so today it went to the mechanics for them to check the TPS again for me, it came back as the TPS was fine and couldnt find an issue with it ?
    not sure what to do now, its hard to show the mechanic the symptoms as it doesnt happen all the time and he can find find an issue so wont replace the TPS again for me ( parts and labour warranty)
    im 90% sure its the same issue, as its the exact same problems as it was before.
    any ideas or suggestions ?
    this has got me stuck, and its incredibly annoying having these issues, when you put your foot down it feels like the throttle isnt opening, and the injectors are turning off.

    i had a similar issue. what did it for me was a good clean out of all the carbon in the TBs and in the butter flyes. just take the plenum appart and see if they are dirty. prob something to do with the flow of air being distrupted by a chunk of carbon somwhere in the TB.

    that lasted about 8 months and now i think i need to clean them again. this time im also gonna put a carbon cleaner through the motor. hope i dont end up blowing a HG or somethig breaking(like last time). sometimes the carbon holds things in place, and when u remove it things die.

    the actual wiring for the tps? the afm? the wiring for the afm? fuel filter? fuel pressure? how are your leads, on really tight? how are your plugs? dead black or super clean?

    wiring has been cleared, i cant say whether the AFM has issues ? it looks ok and the wires look alright i suppose ? i changed the fuel filter bout 2 months ago, with the fuel pressure it appears as if the injectors turn themselves off intermitently, leads and plugs also seem ok, but never no could always do with a change as always
    possible ECU im not really sure,
    it seems it only does it say after ive been driving around town for a few hours, then in the arvo/night it will do it .

    might get the injectors cleaned, and clean the TBs

    not yet, will have to wait till weekday for injectors, prob tuesday maybe,
    and i cant be fucked taking apart the quads now gonna go pub !
    was really trying out that face up there to see if it would work or not,

    ok well, have changed all the leads over, cheacked everything i can,
    its still missing heaps,
    tonite, its dying on me randomly, of course as i cross busy intersections and nearly die.
    the check engine light comes on and oil and battery,
    its all messy
    then 10 mins later it starts ok and droves me home.
    any ideas ?

    Sounds like a dodgey connection. I had a simular thing like this before, run for abit then start missing a spluttering after abit of driving. Found later on the ground to the MAP sensor on my 16v was disconnected. Maybe its the ground on the TPS/AFM ?? Do some continuity testing with a multimeter (beep ones are the best) and also clean it out as advised before (carbon build up etc)

    ive taken it all apart, spent a few days on it, took all plenums out, cleaned everything out, connected every earth and wire i could find.
    multimeter it all , had it at mechanics lol
    its EVIL

    if the problem is intermittent, then I'd be checking for a bad ground. Looking for either a loose bolt that holds the main engine ground on the loom to the end of the head, or the ignitor not bolted down securely. The ignitor gets it's ground from it's mount to the body. If it's loose you will get intermittent spark
