    a. Not much lower then the lowest part of most sumps, but then it'll still need some extra depth for pickups.

    if its that much on an issue, just go old school, total loss oiling system
    big container of oil inside the car, running strait to the pickup, with nothing covering the crank at all. should really be able to get that last .1mm of available engine height then
    p.s this may not be meant as serious advice, and should definatly be ignored.
    GA23(never finished-now with cracked block ) JZX83 (Tyre eater) 3sgte AE86. by now i should know better.

    if you are going for th 1G, why do you need a dry sump?

    Takes away a bit of resistance from the crank. Aids in more power from what I've seen.
    Better oil cooling too.

    I think you will just be complicating things. Personally I think you would be better off spending time and money on other parts of the engine.

    Not really.
    You don't need any low points in some dry sump sumps. Rotaries, for example, jsut have a plain flat plate on the bottom istead of the dished sump when running wet.
