    Default ACL forged pistons

I have been looking at forged pistons for a upcomming build,
I know i should be going Arias and probly will,
But it was put to me that should look at ACL as i can get a good price on them.
I have done some searching and reading and found very little from informed sources
Although one person who seemed to think he knew what he was saying tells me that ACLs all have to thin ring lands and die pretty quickly,
There 'race' line of parts seem to get a pretty good review with there bearings being said to be about as good as clevites.

anyone held a ACL forgie and had a good look at it? any one running them?

i suspect acl outsources their forged piston manufacture to ROSS... ie they just buy ROSS pistons and mill off the identifiers....

see here (plenty of detailed pics):

    thats intresting,
+ve rep for pic, thats a pisser
Pretty typical though, i mean nobody makes anything inhouse anymore,
Ross are a decent pistons, will compare prices and see what happens

As mentioned by ed, ACL forged pistons are made by ROSS or MAHLE, probably depending on application that they are used in.

Both brands being of high quality.

Hey all, well as an X acl employee and one who uses their products i think this topic is right up my alley.

ACL make their pistons in the ACL plant called "piston products" unique name i know. its in qld i think from memory.

Im using their race series forged pistons, race series piston rings, and their race series bearings, havnt had any dramas, no piston knocking (some forgies rattle around in the bores till they warm up and expand)

truth be told i got them at a greatly reduced price because i worked their, but i wouldnt hesitate to buy them again. And the yanks absolutly love their shit.

i do obviously still know people there, but i cant really go asking them to buy $700 worth of pistons, escpecially because a lot of the people i know there are apprentices and $700 is nearly 2 weeks wages for some of the yonger chaps.
I could possibly use my acl discount at other shops to buy some products at a possibly cheaper rate.
