The stub axle only really determines the bearing size. That said, for most people who want larger brakes for racing purposes would probably also go to larger stub axles as well.
Which is one reason why i am loathed to leave the Corona setup due to the bigger bearings over the sprinter struts.

i just dont see why a good mazda or skyline setup isn't good enough? ae86 are pretty light cars, as long as you running good pads and non brake cookers then the simple mazda setup works perfect. (havent tried any hadcore circuit racing on it though)
AE86 - coming soon to a quiet mountain pass near you...
    WRX - currently epa'd...

this is why I HATE forums.. they are sh!t. All I want to do is buy and sell on here and now they come up with this cr@p that forces me to post and get brownie points off people so that I cant sell stuff.. whle all people do on thbese forums is b!tch and pick on people that are trying to help.. WELL for you brain dead stupid people on here that gave me negative feed back. go f>ck your selves. Im going to another forum. You guys shouldnt of changed toymods to what it is now. cause its driven away heaps of people. you guys will get sick of the proud people on here that think they know everything.

WELL for those who want info PM me and Ill talk to you normally. But have patience as some people dont because the guy is old machinist doesnt know how to use his digital camera very well. He lives in QLD and I live in NSW so the photos may take a while. the guy who builds them gets them CUSTOM!!! ordered from DBA!!! so they is no part number. he makes a braket and makes the standard sprinter caliper fit the 310mm ROTOR!!!! I have seen them a few weeks ago whilst I was up there on holidays and they have HEAPS better braking power then standard. For the poeple that actually KNOW something about brake systems and rotor diameters will be able to agree that larger diameter with the same clamping pressure will increase braking force. ITS PHYSICS!!!

I will happily be proved wrong. So I look forward to some more info about it.

Eg, Jap or oz-spec calipers? Disc thickness? Hat height? What the adaptor for caliper->strut looks like?

i dont see how him making money helps us?

if this guys sole purpose is to provide the public with a product then that is a commercial sale, in which this thread should be deleted.

and if thats that case then he should really be a forum sponsor and pay up like guys like Importbitz, Vision R, Racespec & Central Victorian Auto Parts.

Read the rules and guidelines for posting in the tech section. then ask yourself, does this guys post fall under the catergory?

me thinks not, and is a very good reason for neg repping.

when you think about it a neg rep is a slap on the wrist. this guy has come on here making a half assed post that sounds like bullshit with no kind of evidnece to substantiate his claim therefore 11 people slappped him on the wrist and well deserved i reckon too!

Notice he said buy and sell. Regardless, he want to hook people up with his friends brake upgrade. Perhaps he should have advertised, but whatever. I still don't like the rep thing. Actualy I don't like that I don't get an avitar. It makes it SO much harder to read the damned forum (as most people don't have them). Otherwise I couldn't care less.

But now I'm going way OT.

why is it hard to read the forum without avatars? do you only read books with pictures?

on a more serious note i understand where you are coming from, but i believe MOST people who use these forums do so for technical info. he thinks he is 'helping' us by selling us things? i dont think he does it from the goodness of his heart, i think he is only here to help himself and i dont beleive this is what the toymods community is about.

i did not neg rep him because of his original post, i was genuinly interested in finding out more detailed info as it sounded a little suspect to me. i did however just negative rep him for these comments:

*Shrug* fair enough. I think a 2 or 3 point wrist slap is fair enough, but down to neg 1?

And to whoever neg repped me for my above post, stuff you!

Well, much as I'm enjoying the little keyboard playground scuffle, I'm still curious for a little info on how the stocky caliper is used. Also, with custom rotors, and some kind of mods to the stock caliper, it probably wouldn't be the cheapest option around...

On the topic of avatars, selling stuff, etc., one option is to just join the club, that way you can be unpopular AND show your ugly face to the world... Like me!!
