timing belt end engine mount hasn't come apart?
I snapped one once in an AE92 and it introduced a massive shake in the steering wheel at 100km/h
When the speed gets up 4th and 5th gear driving, when i get to about 110kph there is a horrible shudder like a bad wheel balance. but i have just had the fronts replaced and rebalanced and its still doing it.
Interestingly though, if you put your foot on the clutch the vibration goes away.
Its real nasty and you can see the steering wheel shuddering left and right when its doin it.
I am thinking it could be the cv joint which was making alot of noise earlier on, would this likely cause a shuddering?
Anything else i should check?
cheers

hey, ill have to have a look, i guess that would explain why it dies down with the clutch, maybe load dependant as well.
will check it out. cheers
Funnily enough, that is the engine mount I blew out too.

Now driving 20V Turbo 1.8 N-S FWD
i just checked the engine, no excessive movement, although that was just me trying to shake the engine.
Havent been underneath yet to check the bottom mount though, but the other ones looked fine.
it's an engine mount.. i'd put my money on that it is your front and rear engine mount that have snapped
opinions are like a** holes.. everyone has one but thinks everybody elses stinks
the front and rear torque mounts wont cause a vibration when the tabs snap that locate the insulators.
i had some random vibrations from my drive-shafts.. one of them wasn't very straight or something along those lines.. replaced them and all was good again..
Research has shown child in front seat causes accidents, accident in back seat causes child
clarify when it happens... those speeds, but when accel, decel, or kind of freewheeling...
if you put cluthc in but keep revs at same level, does it still happen? can you make the sound worse, or go away? if so how.
can you replicate it at lower speeds?
jacked it up and checked the rims for runout? ie spin em and look for wobblies...

thanks for the replies guys.
Mounts look fine.
it gets worse from about 105kph onwards. putting the clutch in and keeping revs the same the vibration goes away.
no vibrations that i know of at any other time.
Will spin the wheel (by hand and not the usual method) and see what happens
thanks
Perhaps the frequency generated by the engine at that particular revs and load is causing resonance in another place in your steering system? Check all mounts and bolts for tightness.
well it might be more serious than i though.
I now have no drive to the wheels. Cvs are still in one piece and there is a funny noise when the clutch is engaged.
Gearbox coming off tomorrow night. Doh!
well i think i found the problem
on saturday the fxgt broke down with no drive going to the wheels.
Funny noise when the clutch pedal was pushed in.
Got the gearbox off today, i figure this was causing the vibration.
Exedy clutch kit about a year old.
Everything else looks ok, so will probably get flywheel machined and a replacement clutch plate.
Should i just get a genuine one or get an upgraded after market clutch plate.
What wouldve caused the clutch to have done this anyways?
Cheers

Where's the rest of the clutch plate???
not sure, probably on the road somewhere. There were a few shavings inside the bellhousing. crazy stuff!
