Default soarer 1j -aircon and power steer = ribbed idler?

    hey guys,

i know someone out there has done this, just wondered if there was an easier/known good way to do it..

ive removed the air con and power steer pumps off the motor, but strangely enough i still need to run the water pump and altenator, so we were thinking just replace the flat idler pulley with a ribbed version (either from something else if we can find one my mate that works at replco recons i should be able to find one off the shelf, or turn one up) and run it around the outside of the 4 pulleys instead of in the original serpentine style which would require making a couple of extra idlers, and engine bay space i don't really have..

sorry i don't have any pics but i could draw a diagram if somone really wanted..

Trying to remember off the top of my head here... I know the AC pump can be easily eliminated and a shorter belt used, but I think the PS pump is a bit of a pest. Maybe shifting the alternator would be the go? I'll have a look at an engine today and see.

if i shift the altenator i'd have to make up mounts etc.. i hope this isn't the easiest way

managed to get a belt to fit it, and it seems to work perfectly with limited testing,
