Interesting, the stuff i used for the bonnet is an Acrylic Enamel. Let me go take a photo of the can

    Edit:

Went on like a normal thinned acrylic though.

Its glossy. Not sure if its UV stable. I had to do the bonnet in it because the can of 2pak got knocked off the shelf in the garage before i had done the bonnet. I didnt particularly feel like pushing the bonnet around on the ground to get good coverage

    Stu,

For a fine filler, look at the U-Pol Hot Shot. Working quite well for me, and sticks to panels like shit to a blanket.

Takai that DUPONT paint is probably an acrylic, but the "enamel" has been added as a marketing strategy to tell people it is glossy like enamel. Enamel always give a good gloss straight off the gun.

Nah, its definately not a plain acrylic. I have a random sheet of steel i use to calibrate the gun and when i popped some acrylic over the top of the 3 day old enamel it bubbled up when dry, like there was still stuff drying off on the enamel.

This gave a good gloss off the gun.

dupont enamel /acrylic and 2k are compatible with each other
dupont tint up the pigment to make the color , then add the binder that determines weather its acrylic enamel or 2 pack
also ,with todays iccyanate free products in 2pack you can even reduce it with a good quality gp thinners
if you have a dupont stockist ask for the data sheets to read ,
you will be surprised with how versatile it is

This certainly isnt compatible with the K&H Acrylic i was using to do the insides of the doors etc.

Looking at it today its come up quite glossy with only a few areas of orangepeel

Went and had a chat to the paint shop today. Seems its the same base and colour as the 2K stuff, but merely with an air activated binder rather than a catalyst activated binder.

wandering around the local (now) DIY centre here near Yokohama... they have Anest Iwata guns!
    the W101-131GC (gravity 1.3mm) is about $190 with a 400ml metal pot...
    http://www.anest-iwata.com.au/range/detail/w101.shtml
good deal? still a fairly basic gun? too small a tip for acrylic?

hm, this setup. only a bit cheaper than ebay minus postage etc.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...5123&viewitem=

tbh, it looks like it may be not much better than the workquip, although feels and looks better but not a big step up?

    they didn't have W200/400's there

W101, I would buy a gun like that. 1.3mm is right there for spraying acrylic, topcoat, and 2pak. I use a 1.2 or 1.4mm gun for all of the above.

    cheers Chuck.
