    Default tips for ke10

Hi all, I'm just after some info on modifying my KE10. Basically I'd like it set up for good handling and am also thinking of an engine conversion i have a fwd 4age. So with these goals in mind I was hoping I could be such advice as, a)What is a suitable wheel/tyre size b)What is a good suspension setup and c)/gearbox to transplant into it?
    Thanks

umm.. how good handling? you can play around with stock design, or you can transplant in KE20 front end.. or you can get a bit more tricky and put in rack and pinion. rear end if you want to go past the leaves requires a lot of work.
KE10 is not so easy as it has smaller track than other toyotas, and does not share suspension parts with KE20 or later (although KE20 column, and later brakes do fit)

wheel and tyre?? whatever fits over the brakes... as a rough guess, 15" is abotu as big as you want to go.. you should be able to get good sized brakes under them. tyre.. 195 MAX

gearbox.. whatever goes with the engine T50 for NA 4AG, W5X for abuse or FI? depends how you drive.

KE20 Front end would be pro, but it's a bit too hard once you start trying to fit a 4AGE in because of clearance issues. I'd remove the transverse leaf and fit stiff springs designed for a KE20. Also get your struts cold bent or buy strut tops, some good shocks and an aftermarket whiteline swaybar. As for rear, reset leaves, dont add any extra, just have them lowered, front eyelet reversed and some stiff shocks.. KYB or somethin.

W58 or larger than 15" wheels require massive body mods. Im still only halfway there!I used to run 14x185 they were pro. 14"x 175 x 60's will fit a little easier but no standard steel rims are available in 14", you'll have to go aftermarket.

T50 fits with a bit of massaging.

Just run a worked 4K with twin webers. Thats what old corollas were made for!

Sell the FWD 4AGE and use the money on some go fast bits for the KE10!

I have dropped a whole AE86 front end and steering into mine....some work there but nothing i would describe as outrageous. The hardest bit that i'm currently working on are the strut tops and again, nothing really tricky...just need to get it right.

    enlightenment...i'm not Budda ;-)

Narrow the x-member and the rack by 75mm and weld on some 5mm plate for new chassis bolt holes. Drill out the stock chassis rails holes to 11mm so you can run some decent sized x-member bolts...easy :-)

    depends what manual.
if you are sticking with K series, manual conversion is piss easy.
bolt in manual pedal set, drill hole in firewall and weld in short length of tube (sitting it there will work for a while)
bridge the auto start selector thing (handy wiring for a kill switch) and away you go

in that case you need to modify firewall and pedal box for a hydraulic clutch....

i think you'll find you need to use a RWD clutch set up...
im doing the same conversion on my KE35 (putting a 4AG in it) it too needs to be converted to hydraulic clutch.
my research concludes that most people use AE71, AE86, or TA22 pedal boxes, and/or master and slave cylenders, if yours is auto, you can either fit a KE10 pedal box and modify it to actuate the hydraulic piston instead of a cable, it isnt hard, just a little bit of fiddling and welnding, or modify the firewall to accept a whole doner pedal box.
