20 valve alternator

Hey all got a small problem as i was putting engine back together i noticed the alternator does not spin properly it seams to get caught on itself somehow. I went into toyota and priced one $921 i almost died. Just wondering if any other alternator would work on it or can i get one a cheaper than the rip off price above. I have a spare 4agze alternator but they are different right? I also have a mate with a spare 2jz atmo alternator but i dont think that would work either?

local auto elecs usually do rebuilds or swap for around $250

Ok Thanks for that if the thing is totally F#%KED they can just swap it? It seams like the rotor inside is clipping on something and it wasnt doing that when i pulled the engine apart.

in my experience, your auto elec will have a place where you pay $250 or so and give them your fucked one and they return to you with a reconditioned one for your car.
also, im sure you could pick one up from the forums ?
