Do you want the Haltech to control ignition and fuel? Or fuel only?

If fuel only that should be fine to use standard dizzy and ignitor.

But the 3tgte ignition control is primative. If putting a haltech on i'd be wanting that to control it.

In that case you need to lock the dizzy, and as for the ignitor, i used a M&W on my haltech, but maybe the factory one is compatiable im not sure.

    Cheers

    Thanks Joel.
I want to run direct fire but finance doesn't permit me at the moment, about another $500 in hardware is required.
So if I run the standard dizzy will the Haltech control fuel and ignition or fuel only?
Have you still got Haltech Joel?
    Thanks,
    Neil.

If you run standard dizzy, with no mods like locking it up, the Haltech should be setup to control fuel only.

If you took the dizzy out, locked it up, used a reluctor interface setup which if I remember correctly the Haltech supported fine. Then just get some Bosch coils from a Camira.

That should get you out of trouble cheaply.. Can't see $500 being spent there.

I dont use Haltech anymore.. I had a E6S that I wasn't overally impressed with, but I think most of that was the tuner and not the ECU. But it pissed me off so bad I got rid of it all thinking i'd go back to a factory ecu.

But then changed my mind again and got the Autronic, and a new tuner, and would never look back

When youy say 'locked it up' you mean take in vac advance off or you mean stop the internals (small amount of spring action) from moving all together?
Do you remember what's involved in 'locking it up, did you do it yourself or how much did it cost?

Difference in cost from Haltech for bear computer and loom, or the whole kit, dual coils, dual channel ing, etc was just under $500.

Sorry about all the question but if I don't ask I won't know.
    Thanks
    Neil.

Locking it up does require you to take the dizzy out, gut it and weld up the weights and where it twists on the shaft. Once its apart it'll make more sense.

If you are using the dizzy for the pickup still then you'll need to put all the bits n pieces back inside it.

When I did it had no access to a welder, so I pulled it all apart, took it down to a workshop and had them weld it for $20 or so.

How about not going for all the bells n whistles you mentioned in the $500 thing.. Use some secondhand Bosch ignitors from a Camira. Use the original dizzy to fire each plug so you dont need coil packs. Then there should be hardly any cost involved?

I know its all the bells and whistles, but would have been really nice to get rid of that bid, ugly dizzy.
You might be able to also answer this question then. I was going to run direct fire and use the trigger at base of the dizzy and just remove the rotor and get a small cap made to replace the dizzy cap. Would that work as the trigger?

Yeah that'd pretty much work, but from memory Haltech like most ECU's need a reference signal, you can get some box that goes around the no.1 spark plug lead I think for this? Might be a question for Haltech that one.
