Make sure there are no head gasket issues (unlikely if it's running spot on).
I'd recore the radiator. I'm sure you're the first person that cares about it.
Hi guys.
Am having problems with my old MS112 crown. Its still got the 5me which appears to be in A1 nic. Whats happening is it is running quite hot when i get out on the highway or am driving along with the aircon on. I installed a 10" thermo to aid but it hasnt helped. IN traffic with the fan going it is fine, but as you get driving it goes right up. The clutch fan is locking up, but not until about 2/3 of the gauge. when it finally fully locks up the car does cool but its a last moment saviour. im guessing that its going to be a blocked radiator, can anyone confirm their thoughts? Water pump looks newish also. car's done 298km. Or could the problem be low fluid in the clutch fan?
Cheers dudes
Blake

I vote clogged rad, classic symptom of overheating on the highway.

nah its running perfect. sadly no reason to upgrade to a 7m/ 2jz
No oil in water or vice versa.
im getting a towbar for it this month so i might pick up a rad also and recore that to put in..
cheers dudes.
if you're going to tow with it, it would be foolish NOT to get your existing rad recored.
is only a few hours work for any radiator shop - so is no need to ge a replacement.
cheers,
CHarles.
Probably a good time to revamp the whole cooling system. Flush it out, new thermostat, new water pump, inspect all the little hoses and replace if they look dodgy.
tried swapping the clutch fan? ive noticed some have more friction then others.
hello
being a tow vehicle, i'd piss off the clutch fan and put two large thermo-fans. Last thing you want (while towing 2 tonnes of car & trailer) is to have the motor overheat when you're a $500 tow-truck ride home.
Adding a thermo fan is a band-aid solution and has not worked anyway. The car didn't overheat from the factory so you don't need to add fans, just return whatever anomolous condition exists to within factory tolerances.
i think being a tow vehicle is a permanent anomoly - hence the suggestion for 2 thermos.
I already installed a 10" thermo on the front for the air con. Didnt make a pinch of shit difference on the highway though. I did buy a 16" shrouded volvo fan to put on it when i have the rad re-cored though. Im told by fordforums boys they make the AU thermos look like they are just beginners...

you cant borrow a guage with actuall numbers on it to see how hot 1/2/3/4 bars is?? (i assume it has digital display)
