So with all this great info flying around has anyone come across, or even looked for, an upgrade for a t series disk brake diff? Unlike their drum counterparts, the bolt spacing on the diff housing is not rectangular.

I have many pic's & detail's of this mod.. & still doing a write up, with all tool's, sizes, & were to find, & how to use....eg. steel brake line, bending & flairing tool's...
Bending & flairing tool's...
Rear pad's # DB 1098
Rear shoe's # Reshoe only
Rear rotors # PBR 706
Seal Kit # K1610s
Bolts are Hi tencile, 45mm long x 10mm metric fine (1.25mm) . With one side linished to fit the axle.
(use stock nuts.. with loctite 262. )
This bolt size seems to be an odd one, & a lot of bolt shops don't stock them.. I order them in a min. order as well..
PS. the spacer ring is not 5mm thick, size is only an aprox' size...

I doubt it Chrisso... as rear brakes do 3/5ths of stuff all braking anyways, the main reasons people want to go away from drums is that
a) drums are poo
b) disks can help counter the biasing of massif front brakes.
Also T series are pretty rare in disk brake form, so there arent all that many people demanding an alternate setup, so less manpower is going into research and development. Sorry mate, just a case of supply and demand... theres not enough demand to upgrade T series rear disks. Buy some good pads and have the disks slotted.

Thanks for the reply Owen. Everything comes back to supply and demand - you don't have tell me this, I'm and economist!
My issue is that I have everything I need to drop this in except the brakes! Short of trading my left nut for a set I'm thinking I will try and adapt a set of rx7 brakes I have lying around. Time to stop being a lazy bastard and do some of my own research. Wreckers, here I come.
Cheers,
Chris

Would a T-series disc brake setup (calipers, HB cables, caliper mounts/dust plate) from an JDM AE86 T-series fit on a RA40/60 diff without additional spacers / remounting?
Apparently not, as there were differences between the mountings on the diffs. As already mentioned, the brakes from the Borg Warner diff'd ST141/RT142 Avante (rear disk) fit the T series, and are in fairly plentiful supply. More than enough writeups have been done on fitting them, and it is rather straight forward. Why would you hunt down a rare set of brakes when the common items are just as good... if not better?? (they were made for a heavier car)Originally Posted by thanhngo
Also, If I am correct, the AE86 diffs are a direct fitment to RA40/RA60 and the JDM disk brake items have the larger 24 spline kouki(sp?) axles.

As the RT142's disc's will not fit the AE86's disc diff.. most prob' not..Originally Posted by thanhngo
But the complete diff might.... as i'm told that the hangers are the same...
In short just use the RT142's set up.. for RA40/60's... If doing a RA40 use RA60's diff housing, as it has a rear sway bar...
Help... in nameing the thread for "T","F", disc upgrades...
I've got many pic's, & details of these upgrades..

TRX Bluebird brakes are pretty much a straight up fit onto a t series diff except for the hand brake cable. Fitted on to my last ra28.

They are probably very much the same as the R31 items as they are from the same era and from a similarly sized vehicle. Good info on the extra source though.

Hate to bring up an old thread but its better then starting a new one. Does anyone have any more info on the bluebird TRX rear discs brake upgrade on the ra28?
I have scoured and searched all over the forum and can only find one person whos done it (ra_28) but doesnt replay to PM.
Any photos of the calipers or the caliper mount measurements etc?
