You told me via PM that you get it, however some of your comments in this thread suggest that you're not really sure what we're getting at.

Our guideline is to notify the thread starter in the event of a thread deletion. In the event of a gross breach the guideline may be relaxed as it's not always necessary to spell out the bleedingly obvious.
Just curious - did you ask each thread owner of those deleted threads if they got notified?

Guilty... put the shovel away, your nearly in China mate.

I was once young and ignorant (wasnt all that long ago either), but have realised that in communities like this, the rules are there for everybody's benefit, and the Mods are putting in their spare time, they could be working on their car, or getting a tan, or other such leisure activities, to ensure these rules are adhered to. If you seriously think that what you have done is an isolated case of not knowing the forum rules, then request that the rules be explained to you, or the relavent section you have inadvertantly contraviened be pointed out to you. Then learn from the mistake and move on.

Of course, you could have a spit and see how many people you tick off.

Also, I dont think that having "Currently Stripping MX21 Soarer" in your signature in big red writing really goes well with the rule of no advertising in your signature. The line of "Z20 soarer parts provider" would be borderline at best.

Have a think about what you want from the forums, and how you can get that without contraviening the rules, or the spirit of the club.

    My 2c worth.

As someone who used to be the only active moderator of the Classifieds section, I used to post a comment about why the thread was being removed so that everyone who was subscribed to that thread saw that there was something being done about it. I'm sure others do the same.
If we had to PM every person every time there was a cock up, think about how long that takes. The first time, possibly the 2nd, but after that, it just starts to get damn annoying.

And then, how many new posts are made on this forum every day?
How are we supposed to keep track of every thread that we close to allow a chance for it to be changed? And how are you going to change it once it's locked anyway, only a mod can do that? As has been mentioned, the mods are doing this in their spare time because they feel its something worthwhile doing to promote this community.

Some people think that the rules on this forum are harsh, but have a look into why there used to an "old forum".
The behaviour was atrocious. People were getting banned left, right & centre. I haven't heard of that many in this incarnation.
It was a big decision that required a crap load of work to start afresh. The world has changed. As a registered club with assets, we can be held liable & responsible for things that go on here. Do you want to jeopardise that?

    And as has been said:
