AE86 with XT130 Struts, What springs?

My AE86 has MX62 brakes and calipers and as such has xt130 struts. Now I want to upgrade my springs to something a little less jelly like, but I'm not sure what I actually need. Would I need springs to suit an xt130 on the front, or ae86? Cheers

I think you may need custom springs to suit XT130 lower perch and AE86 top cap. I seem to remember XT130 have bigger spring seats than AE86, so the XT130 top doesn't fit in the strut tower, hence requiring the mix'n'match.

This is not a particularly educated opinion, though a quick trip to pick-a-part should sort it out.

Custom springs. Or just swap to coilovers.

i can't remember exactly but i think i ran ra60 struts with ae86 springs and top hats?
some lower spring perch's have an extra lip inside for smaller springs......

im running rt133 struts in my ae71 with the original 71 strut tops. I used lowered ae71 springs and they sit in the larger corona perch ok

so ae71 springs = ae86 springs? Might be in luck if thats the case

dunno if they are the same but would definitely be similar in diameter. try an original spring in your perch see if the coil lines up with the seat.

Yer guys i am after some superlows springs for my ae86 bought the car with xt130 corona struts and pug discs , so my question is what superlow springs do i get to lower my car ?? Do i got out and get xt130 corona springs to suit or can i use ae86 springs. Reason i ask as i am going brand new with em and dont wanna buy the wrong ones

The XT130 spring wont fit inside the AE86 strut tower as its outside diameter is to big. I dont think you will get an off the shelf spring that will be a direct fit. When I did mine i welded the AE86 spring perch onto the XT130 strut tube, I then could use AE86 springs.
