anyone???![]()
Howdy guys, I have looked around the forum but haven’t seen anything about using a JZA70 half cut (Manual) into a MX83.
What parts can I use out of it?
And what parts do I need to use if they don’t fit?
I am only asking this because I done a JZA70 conversion into a Z20 and now I got into a accident with it, I am planning to pull it out and put it into a MX83 but don’t know what parts can/need to use.
Any help much appreciated
Thanks a lot, Heng

Well, first problem you'll have is with the sump and mounts...
jza70 has a mid/rear sump arrangement, MX83 requires front sump and as above, the engine mounts are different...

As mentioned, sump and engine mounts need to be changed.
The clutch pedal can be used but it doesent bolt in and needs a little modifying.
The power steering resovoir needs a custom bracket or with some fancy work with the lines you can use the stock MX83 one.
Custom high pressure power steering lines.
Cressida trans mount bolts to the R154
Not sure about the intercooler, mine was custom.
Radiator has a different mount at the bottom but can be used with a custom lower mount.
Tailshaft wont fit. I had a single peice made up.
Then its just fiddly stuff like water lines and wiring and its good to go.

i got JZX90 mounts that you need and wildsupra here in perth is selling the front sump setup, complete that you need.
Can you please clarify this JZX90 mount claim?Originally Posted by EldarO
JZX81 mounts are the correct ones for a 1JZ in a later series MX83. In my experience, JZX90 mounts, while having the same mounting angle as the later series MX83s place the engine further forward than it needs to be.

I can 100% confirm that jzx90 mounts flipped around work fine, as proven in my mx83...Originally Posted by Mos
they dont place the engine in the same spot as using JZX81 mounts though.
but they pull on the rubbers and snap them in about 3 months with agressive driving.Originally Posted by bungs

you can buy the genuine JZX81 brackets from toyota, they're reasonably priced too.
