No, it will not throw your timing way out. It will probably modify it slightly at best. It's primary task is reducing fuel by modifying the AFM signal.

Yeah, just from reading that writeup on the SAFC, thought the ECU might go a bit nuts and do something odd to my timing (can't have that) Either way, I'll get it dyno tuned to make sure everything's right. Seems like a cheap and easy way out for now, I'm planning on standalone managment later on, this is more a tempory measure than anything else. I imagine I'm loosing heaps of power thru my amazingly rich mixtures.

I have an SAFC2 fitted, just bought an S-ITC as well, apparently this will fix any ignition timing issues. I'll report on the setup after the ITC is fitted and the whole thing tuned

Edit: BTW, does anyone know the initial SAFC2 settings for a 7MGTE? It asks for voltages and all sorts of stuff. At the moment mine is reading everything but I need to swap over a connection to give it any control which I cant til it's set up properly. After that it'll be set at zero by default til it's tuned

I looked into that setup, but by the time it was bought and tuned, I was getting close to the cost of the microtech...at 1k it's a pretty good buy...
