Unless you want to change ya ratio back the best option i can see is change the speedo gears to suit.Originally Posted by mux
Change the speedo gearing at the GB or the Dash?
edit: either way where do I go to get the stuff to do it (change speedo gears)?
edit2: what is the correct diff ratio for a ma70 running a R154?
Gearbox i would say, I'm still looking into it for my corona.Originally Posted by mux
I've worked out that I'd need a 3.5:1 Diff ratio....
What comes out with this ratio??
What's more important to you:
a) Having the right diff ratio for what you are trying to achieve (highway economy or wheel chirping torque)
b) Having your speedo read correctly.

Street's, To tell you the truth at this point I just want the cheapest fix.
you can get adapter boxs made up to convert the cable to read correctly, not sure on any companies that do it though.

VDO do these ratio boxes - but they're a couple of hundred dollars. Try an Authorised VDO dealer like SGESCO in Brisbane for the real price.
Depending on your gearbox, Toyota may carry alternative ratios for the speedo drive, but that can also mean changing the drive worm gear as well (gearbox out!). If they aren't available in Oz, NZ has a larger range of Toyotas and can be a good place to search for alternatives that aren't on the Oz Toyota parts lists. Just need to find a Kiwi mate ......

VDO do it, there is a place in Brookvale NSW if anyone reading this is from the Sydney area and wishes to have it done. They can recalibrate old speedometers as well (no box required), years back the speedo on my car (standard everything, tyres etc) and it was 8km/h out @ 90km/h.
Wish i got that done BEFORE the speeding ticket![]()
