big no no reusing flywheel bolts. basically its insurance for your legs and hardware on the car. it isnt expensive to change the bolts though, 4age ones from toyota are like $4.40 each
Im trying to chase up the factory flywheel torque settings for a 1JZ. can anyone point me in the right direction?
Whilst im here...ive heard that it is a big no no to reuse flywheel bolts when changing a clutch/flywheel as it increases the chance of the flywheel letting go whilst in use. can anyone confirm this? Basically is it recommended to use new flywheel bolts and if so, why?
Cheers![]()

i see...do i need to go with toyota genuine here? i can easily go to a place like coventry fasteners with one of the bolts and ask for an exact copy...? are they likely to be high tensile strength bolts?
reason being toyota never have anything for the 1JZ in stock and i need them asap.
i actually am using an OS twin plate clutch...im aussming the bolts are the same?

yes but i have to ask....why ? lol
arp make them to...and apparently they are reusable. still i wouldnt want to reuse any flywheel bolt. even going to cov's will cost you $3-4 a bolt so theres no real saving in money. Like i said the 4age ones are the cheapest i've found so far.

why to what? lol. you lost me there....
yeah only reason id go to covs is because they will have exactly what i need there and then. toyota on the other hand will probably have to order from melbourne or something.

hmmm well the one here in perth had them on the shelf ( most australian delivered cars have bits on the shelf), where as for the 7mgte flywheel bolts they would have had to get ex japan....
both did the same job lol

Same bolts as 4AGE, hence probably the same torque specs:
Flywheel Bolts: 74Nm

Easy done, i had to pull the specs to put the flywheel on the 2JZ the other day. (and then realised i didnt have any bolts)

just a word of note though. YOU HAVE TO USE LOCTITE / THREAD SEALANT on 1jz and 2jz engines. The holes go right through the end of the crank and if you dont you will have oil weaping out the holes.
