Lumpy: there is a guy named Cihan on soarercentral that just installed his emanage in a jzz30 and has been doing writeups of how it is going and potential 1jz modifying path. Has done a bit of tuning so far but no dyno time.

He seems to like it though and said it was easy to install. And you can use it and still have the stock ecu control the auto and ISCV which are big +'s in my books.

My car (lumpy's old car) has a Blitz Access ECU (stock ecu reprogrammed without boost/fuel cut I believe) and even with that is still runs so rich.

I have an SAFC II that I will likely get installed down the track, as it can only be an advantage.. the AFR's it was pulling on the dyno were so rich it was not funny. I have the printout at home somewhere.

Though before this I need to fix the damn knock sensor signal error, as atleast in its current setup it has bucklies chance of knocking when using Ultimate 98 + crap stock AFR's

On the knock sensor note, apparently lots of aftermarket ECU setups don't even use them? ... eg MOTEC. Well that is what I was told.

I am not sure about Motec as they may use them. But regular ecu's that people can afford don't use them. My wolf has compensation for water temp, air temp, voltage and something else but not knock. You are supposed to get it tuned safely using these modifiers so that it will alter the fuel map in situations where it could have knocked otherwise. e.g no air temp compensation, you are going to need a slightly different amount of fuel between 40deg and 5 deg. Lower temp = denser air = more oxygen = more fuel required to maintain same a/f ratio.

I used a SAFC on my Soarer when it had the 7M and made around 15rwkw! It improved fuel consumption a fair bit too.

I plan to install it on the 1J in the next month or so as well. Just trying to find a good place to tune it locally.
