Well, I'd second that one, check ALL the fuses.
I haven't read the above, but I'd be putting a timing light on it and seeing if your spark plugs are infact firing. If they ARE firing, then it's probably not an ignition problem, and vice versa, if they aren't firing, then you've got an ignition problem.
My experience with 1g's and standard looms though isn't igntiion, it's fuel, and it's usually the fuel relay circuit doovy, IE the fuel pump isn't getting power and then the car won't start as it's not getting any fuel. Pretty fundamental hey.
