hoe does piston acceleration change wqith the above two models? it is the piston acceleration that should be the limiting factor, combined with piston/rod mass, as that is the actual force through the rods.
Are you talking about my three models?

I'd have to run another set of calculations to figure it out exactly, but I guess the 54mm stroke would have to accelerate twice as fast as the 108mm stroke engine, due to it having to get up to speed in half the distance. I hadn't thought of that. Doh!

I'll have to factor that into my little chart.

    not distance.. time.. well.. both

thnk about it... piston one has to reach max speed 600 times a minute
piston three has to reach same speed 18000 times a minute....

    then again, distances are smaller....
i'm just curious to see someone calculate it

cos calculate A, and then you get F knowing mass of piston (and some of rod)

Ed, what happened with the argument with the titan guy? Did anyone ever destroy an engine with one of his 3.4L stroker kits?

    Awesome thread btw

Actually, the first piston has to reach top speed 12,000 times a minute. Once up, and once down on each rotation. Piston three has to do it 36,000 times a minute. It only has to do it 6000 and 18,000 times under the force of combustion though. I will figure it out. My engines all assumed the same mass for the piston by the way, which is why I used the same bore, to keep it the same size.

Yeh thats the one, there was a link to it on the au supra forums in ed's post and the guy was trying to sell them but when asked a few seemingly relevant questions he had no answer and continued to use sales speak.

Roger, I hate when you get fed that sales BS and try to filter through the junk to get the real answers....
