    Default A340E differences.

    Been having a read of some info regarding A340E and A341E gearboxes. Have to replace the one in my 7mgte mz20 soarer in a few weeks as its slipping a bit.

    Just wanting to confirm a few things. An A340E out of an mx83 will drop straight in and the computer should be able to control it fine? Is there any way to double check this? My gearbox is currently in so cant count splines, does anyone know how many the soarer has?

    I understand that the A341E is the auto behind the 2jzge engine. Obviously because its a newer engine one could assume that the box would be in better condition and being non turbo wouldn't have too much strain on it so it would be the more desireable. So it will physically bolt up if I use my bellhousing but will the computer be able to control it and will the splines line up (assuming both my gearbox and torque converter don't get reused.)?

    Is there any problem running a non abs gearbox on an abs car? Problem running abs gearbox on non abs car?

    There are internal differences with the A340 gearboxes, I wouldn't expect an MX83 gearbox to be strong enough to handle the torque of a 7M-GTE.

    u should be able to pick up a box for about 100 bux

    An atmo A340 and turbo one have different numbers of clutches. It will bolt up, but is not as strong.

    The speed sensors are all f*cking different, different teeth, digital and analog signals.. all sorts of dramas there.

    So basically I am limited to getting a box out of a turbo supra or soarer. Anyone know if there are any major differences between the different years. I have an 88.

    If anyone has one for sale in good condition can you send me a PM please.

    put one in from a cressida, it will last for a fair while im sure.

    it might just last a year instead of 20.

    I have one from an 89 soarer I dont need. It wasn't too bad, no major slippage or anything. Probably just needed a service.

    i sold one for $100 and threw another away cause no one wanted it.

    they're cheap as chips, if you were in perth i know the location of 4.

    I'm always on the lookout for a 1J supra box like i have for a spare.. they don't come up very often though
