Default NA PCV ok for turbo use?

have been wondering if i have plumbed in my PCV valve sensibly for the 18RTE ...

I have the stock 18R PCV valve going to the port for my idle-up valve. It will see vacuum wheneve the engine is not boosting - so it can scavenge crankcase fumes when not being flogged.

question then is, will a stock 18R PCV cope with up to 13 psi of boost? or should i search the wreckers for a PCV valve from a turbo?

If you blow into the valve it closes up - but it was never designed to see boost and hence may not seal correctly against boost.

The breather on the rocker cover will go to the turbo inlet pipe so that's no worry for me.... but the PCV valve is a slight concern.

Long term plan will be a catch can - and at that point i'll re-think the whole setup. But for now, i'm sticking to an emissions-friendly system.

    anyway - advice most welcome.

    tia,
    Charles.

someone has to try things before knowledge can grow!

Make sure your PCV valve is in good order, replace it if needed. With the other pipe going to the intake side, if in doubt, upsize it. No reason not to use a much bigger pipe, or a pair of them.
