noones wired an safc to a gen2 1g?
hi how do you get around the whole non resistor type tps of the 1g when wiring in an safc? The safc only registers different voltages when the throttle is either open or closed and i assume it needs to read it on a continuous basis? Anyone who has done this your help would be greatly appreciated

anyone? its relatively urgent
What do you mean non resistor type TPS? It has a resistor section, and an idle switch. Methinks you've hooked into the idle switch.

mm yeh thats what i thought, so i tried both IDL and PWS pins, one just gives me constant 4.5volts and the other switches from 0 to 4.5 volts when the throttle is around 80% depressed, not gradually like if it was a resistor. I was under the impression that the 1g TPS was just a series of switches, no actual resistor. Which would make sense as there are a total of 8 wires coming out of it..
ok if the tps was a potentiometer type, there would be an output called VTA, and that identify the throttle angle. The 1g tps doesnt have that output... wierd
Both my Gen2 and Gen3 TPS' have functioned the same. They have the idle one and the variable one. If yours doesn't, sounds like it's munted![]()

well one is variable, just not continuously as you depress the pedal, it just switches on and off. Thats fricken wierd dude
heres the thread about the tps being a series of switches, not a resistor

Hmm, maybe it wasn't the Gen2 one I remember checking as well, the Gen3 is definetly variable. I'm using it now on my Adaptronic.

ffs had to be different didnt they.. afaik the safc only needs the tps signal to differentiate between the high throttle map and the low throttle map, so i should be able to get away with the wacked out signals. Were you still trying to sell an XF throttle body by ne chance?
Sure thing, check engine parts for sale.
