Koni yellows are externally adjustable.
Hey there lads,
Just a quick one, is there any type of front insert one can buy that gives adjustability ON the car? (ie without having to compress fully?) Or if thats not possible - next best option would be being able to adjust them without removing the inserts from the strut at least? What about rears?
My front struts i need R31 inserts, the rears have yet to decide.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Koni yellows are externally adjustable.
Yep - i have Koni sport yellows in the front of my car and you just turn the knob on the top of the strut to adjust it all. Easy as.
Thanks, cheers lads

The KYB AGX series are externally adjustable I believe... That's both front and rears...
Very true, be sure before you order them.Originally Posted by MWP

Koni don't do a yellow for R31
KYB AGX don't do a front for R31, because the dial is external on the bottom of the shock body, so is no good for a macpherson strut.
Going to have to try and find some koni yellows of a close dimension i think and space them up, unless there are other brand options with the knob on the top?

They don't do them... Really?
They do shock inserts where the adjuster is on the top, sillycar chick has them... I can't see why they can't do the same for the R31 inserts...
what are the dimensions?Originally Posted by Bananaman
i might be able to get you a P/N of something close.
also what vehicle and purpose do you want them for that way its easy to figure out your valving requirements.

Here is some info for you:

Go into a proper suspention place, ask for double adjustable konis (external bump and rebound adjustable) at the specific stroke and strut ID and they will either have something close enough of be able to make you one,
should cost about 1300-1500 for a set,
also all the talk of "16way" adjustable is using the wrong terminology they are single way 16 steps.
if you intend on using adjustable shocks than externaly adjustable bump AND rebound is worth it having just one really is that much help
It might be a bit hard to fit double adjustable inserts in some struts as the bump adjuster is at the bottom of the strut and cant be accessed!
Yeah i'll get the dimensions tomorrow, i figure something of the same diameter is a goer, just space it up if needs be. Is for my ke20 ca18det, will primarily be a street car but with the occasional track day / motorkhana / run at the drags, thats why i thought i'd give adjustable a goOriginally Posted by The Real Roadrunner
9000rpm - cheers for the link dude, looking now. Don't mind cutting a hole to access bump adjuster if thats what is required
merc-blue - cheers mate. I'm new to all this, so what i'm trying to do is get something that will allow me to have a bit of a tinker and see how it responds![]()
