A more useful measure of a filter's performance would be pressure drop at a given CFM. Then you could compare this to the pressure drop of your existing setup, and be amazed at how little difference there is!![]()
gains in hp/kw are far more noticeable with big displacement and F/I than on a smaller engine... that's how some of these companies can make these claims that "you'll" get this amount of hp/kw gain, making it sound like it can happen for ANY car.it's all a relative % to the car's power output of course, but some thrive (and bullshit) off the claim that you can make an extra 5-10kw or some shit out of your mum's old 1.5L excel shitheap. it might sound awesome too, but you're not gonna get the same power gains out of a small-displacement car that you do for a larger one.

Yeah, in my experience its a rare occurance for these to catch alight. But its also in my experience when racing all the rare occurances come out of the woodwork to bite you in the arse.
This is the result:
With the remains of the filters looking like this:

this probably isnt really relevant but its late lol
with my 20valve i replaced the stock airbox with the Drift brand pod that came with the car, i was actually going to get a panel filter K&N cos IMO they are the best filter and also you can clean and recharge them !
but i put this drift brand POD on the car, with decent CAI, now with the ITBs it sounds great, put your foot down and you can hear the air being sucked through to the greedy throttle bodys, also i noticed a slight gain of the mark with the POD as if the stock airbox and dirty old filter was holding it back,
though i think to be safe i will go back to the K&N panel filter as i really like them and just open the stock airbox up a bit more for it,
oh yeh dont go FOAM they fall apart and get dirty to easy, just a PITA,
What is autosalon? Sounds kinda homo.
