    Mos, the resistance on the old plug was as low as 10% compared to the newly installed thermocouple.So in a few words, very low impedence.

    The Witzl, yep I hope this thread can be referenced in future. The input from you guys, has solved a perplexing problem, and the fix, would not have been forthcoming, if it had not been for these forums. So all kudos to Toymods, and the members. Well done guys,

    I have a few issues with my 1UZ conversion if anyone can assist.

    First of all, I seized the speedo drive elbow and cable and it wouldn't drive the speedo and the car (auto) wouldn't change out of 1st gear. Changed the speedo cable and elbow and everything works just like it should. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY?

    Secondly, on start it has a miss, which rights itself and runs normally after about 30 seconds to a minute. Is there a simple explanation and or correction?

    Is it possible I have a similar problem with the sensor?

    firstly probly better for another thread but hey ill answer anyway.

    1 the auto wont go into second if it thinks its not going anywhere.

    2 not sure but have you had the injectors flowchecked to make sure there even and that they dont leak?
    have you replaced the sparkplugs?
    is the coldstart injector leaking?

    Dennis,

    I would be inclined to check the sensor as chuck did - it's quite possible you have a similar problem?

    Chuck - are you able to post up the actual resistance of the GOOD sensor in cold water and at 100*C? This way people can measure their sensor and find out if its fucked or not.

    If you can't - i've got a 1UZ in the garage that "might" have the original water temp sensor in it... but it's running a delco so it might have a GM sensor now.

    Sorry Karl, the sheet of paper with the numbers on it, has been recycled, along with the old sensor.

    I'd be very surprised if its a different sensor than the 7M one, whose graph is readily available on the web.

    toyota is pretty good like that
    I know the 22re and 18rge and all efi engines of the same era used the same water temp sensors
    ...... butt scratcher?!
