??? Power window delay for old Toyotas

Hey all,
I'd like to try make my power windows still work for, say, 60 seconds after I turn off the ignition, like new Falcons etc...
Any electrical gurus out there who have done this mod to an old Toyota or got ideas or know of a Jaycar or similar circuit I can wire in that will allow this.
Just think this would be a cool non-performance mod.

The easiest way I can think of would be to use a basic turbo timer circuit, such as those jaycar kit ones. Just has simple presets of 30sec/1min/5min or something similar usually. Just wire the output wires to the window circuit instead of the ignition.

My car would do this while the main relay stayed on after turning the car off Was something not connected correctly and when I corrected the wiring fault it went away. Oh well.

Yeah thought of that idea. though would not want to have something there to set.. would want it just hardwired for set time and hidden.
Thanks, will check out the Jaycar kit and see if it can be easily adapted.
Should be simpler way though... i'm sure the right capacitor or 2 on a basic pcb could do the job. But I do know bugger all about this type of electronics though.

There's a kit jaycar sell "interior light delay" I remember it being called, these go considerably cheaper than a turbo timer and are designed for keeping the interior light on for a while after you close the door. I believe they can be adapted for things like power windows, and virtually anything.

Nothing to stop you just leaving the timer set to whatever the delay is that you want and hiding it out of sight, you don't have to set it every time, its just a switch to change the delay. The interior light one is probably cheaper tho.

That interior light delay is the gadget... should do the trick.
Don't think the soft fade out will affect windows so cool!
I'm gonna have to put all kindsa stuff on delay now.

i think those circuits are a bit overkill for what you want, a simple RC circuit feeding into a transistor to switch a relay, i know chuckster had a diagram somewhere.

Basically it gets power and turns on the relay which puts power to the windows, disconnect power and the relay stays on for a set time, the time delay is changed by changing the capacitance (because for something like this you don't need different time settings, but you can incorperate this easy enough if need be). it has only a few components and will cost alot less then an actual timer kit.

This is the turbo time i have - built with about $10 of parts from any Dick Smith or Jaycar shop.

it simply breaks on the IGN wire coming out of the ignition-key switch.

It just runs the engine for 30/60/120 seconds after changing key away from IGN position.

I've got one of those interior light delay kits in my car & there's no way the wiring would cope with a power windows circuit.
That other link doesn't work any more either & I'd like to do something like this also.
Its a pain to have turned the engine off & then have to turn the ignition back on again just to wind the windows up (plus it also re-activates my glow plugs, very power sapping )

Turbo timer though I reckon would cope.

Just install an alarm/immobiliser, I have a $80 rhino immobiliser from strathfield and that has a bit in it to connect power windows so you have 30 seconds to wind the windows up after ignition is switched off, and it also does the whole interior light stay on thing for 15 seconds.

Check this out, it's a circuit to keep the radio running until the door is opened. Could be modified easily enough to work with the windows. http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page5.asp#drto

Looking at that circuit, I don't think it'd work personally,
The left relay is wrong.

BUT, it might work until you open the door, then once you close the door, the circuit becomes active again, meaning you've got power again, leaving your windows active to be opened by anyone.

The cornering light one is cool though. I wish I had them on my car.
