IIRC somepeople were saying that the 4AC dizzy spins the opposite way?. And they had problems with them thowing the weights after a few days off use. Just a thought
the other option would be a programmable ignition box, there were also fixed advance curve non programmable ignition boxes popping up on ebay for a while for this purpose.
I havent seen them lately though.

4K dizzy spins the right way, so i would just use that.

Hi every one this is very use full info for me does any one have a web site or more detailed info they can give me this is exactly what i need. More info on the 4K dizzy, do I have to do any thing major to it in the way of customizing it or is it a pretty simple change over
4ag dizzy
4K dizzy (elec)
see the difference in the mounting and gear?

Are the 4k ones hard to modify or do you know where I can get an allready modified 4K one from. Thanx Daniel
no idea,
no,
look at the pics, get the two dizzies, measure up what is different and then get the adaptor machined up and swap the drive gears....
i haven7t seen any adaptors for sale here recently, but old sites seem to indicate $200-300 for the "conversion kit"
shouldn7t be too hard to do, but you might need to actually measure something![]()

Making the plate is easy, as is making it so that the 4K dizzy locking mechanism works. Swapping over the drive gears is also easy.
I think you have to machine off the oil pump drive snout though. But thats about it.

Hi, There is a lot of useful 4age information here:
http://www.billzilla.org/4agmods2.htm
It confirms the use of the 4K dizzy or running a an ignition module on the 4age dizzy.
"The cheap & nasty way to make the dizzy work without the factory computer is to simply hook up an ignitor module (eg, Bosch) and then run the engine without any spark advance. Speaking from about 70,000km experience of this, it's really not big deal - The only hassle is that the engine can be a little hard to start when cold or very hot."
Running 20 degree's fixed advance, great under throttle, loses it in the top end.
Idles, but misses a lot.
The best solution for cost is this:
MSD Ignition
PN6430. - 6AL Ignition Control Unit
PN8981. - Programmable Timing Advance Computer.
Roughly $600 - $700 for both components, brand new.
Should be able to order it through Repco, or anywhere that can order from the Rocket Catologue.
I was really impressed by the features offered by these units, download the pdf's from the MSD website.
Essentially, the 6AL offers ignition control, with a built in soft touch rev limiter, boosts spark as well (fires 3 times per stroke under 3300rpm).
- Heaps of additional components available (such as the Timing Computer)
The Timing Computer is used to control Initial Idle Timing, Initial Advance Point, and Slope of Advance. Also has a switch activated retard module, for high speed/nos applications.
- Requires a 6 or 7 series ingnition control.
The 4AGE will be hooked up and running in the next couple of weeks (pending funds)
I'll post an update on results once its all sorted.
A Bosch BIM 024 module will allow you to run a 4age on carbs with a little bit of wiring (there is a write up on ae86dc, including the wiring diagram)
The car that set up is in is a yellow ke70, both the guys that have owned it reckon it works brilliantly - I just got the module to use on mine, so I will let you all know how it runs when I put the motor in after Christmas (hopefully)
I have found a solution to the problem for Jordan, and have built up a couple of MegaJolt ignition computers, which are based on the Ford EDIS system. They use a 32-1 trigger wheel mounted on the crank and a hall effect sensor.
One will be going in the 'Rona and the other in my TA22.
Who needs a dizzy when you have a fully programmable ignition computer with a 2.5 bar map sensor?
Cheers,
Terry.

Hall effect sensor would be good though!
i used to run a dizzy with curve ect setup
it looked to be a mitsu dizzy of some descript which had been made/adapted to use the 4AGE housing. worked very very well.
another way is to use a haltech IG5 (rare) with custom dizzy setup (rarer) which is what i have (but am not using at present as i don't have a 4AGE anymore) - these come up on toymods/car forums for around $500 with the dizzy mod costing a couple of hundred to rig up - that will give u a customizable curve etc and control thermo fans ect ect
that article from DC is here
