I can supply the detailed power window circuit electrical wiring diagram from a USDM AE86 if interested. Has the plugs and where each wire goes etc, bearing in mind the US loom is quite different.

ok Well they are now officially installed and working.
The original plan was to mount the switches on the doors where the manual winder used to be, this would work fine on the passenger side, but since the drivers side switch is 2 switches there was no easy way to mount it on the door.
So to solve this problem I cut the 2 wires leading to the motors and extended them well into the cabin to my centre console and then wired up the rest of the wiring from there.
I joined all the earth wires together and ran a single wire to the -ve terminal on the battery, and then I joined the power wire to the +ve wire at the window wiper motor (so they are ignition switched) and I put a 10A fuse on the power wire.
the 10A appears to be strong enough, it lets me wind both windows up/down at the same time without blowing. when the engine is not running and also if I work both windows at the same time they are much slower than if the engine is running, so I will be fitting a relay in the next few days to see if it helps with that.

As the MA61 switches are rather large and deep I have just left them dangling around at the moment and on my next day off I will be going out to electric life as suggested by BradW, to get some smaller switches that I will be able to install in my centre console and then I can re-trim my doors to cover the holes where the winders used to be.

Just a note to anyone about to go and do this conversion, you will need both the drivers side and passengers side switches or the passenger side motor wont work.
or maybe check with sideshow or some other electrical guru if there is a way around that?

hope this has all been helpful to anyone pondering about power windows for their 86, and congratulations to all MA61 owners/wreckers you can now charge a small fortune for your power window setups!

    Cheers.

old thread i know.....but, i can confirm MX62 cressida regulators ARE NOT a direct swap into RA40's.

however, i have made a hybrid regulator from MX62 and RA40 regulators and it works fine.

i wired mine up so there is 3 coleherse (co. that make switches ) 6pin, momentary paddle switches. the middle one is for lock/unlock. they are directly above the centre console on the dash, not on the door.

the 6pin switches (ON--OFF-ON) are good for switching polarities, ie up or down (windows or antenna etc)

the first hybrid regulator i made was a bit rough as it was an "experiment"
    hello

they do look like they would fit into an RA2#. I also would like to know if anyone has tried it or can confirm they will fit.

Physically, how hard is it to remove then reinstall the winding gear from a powered-window door into a manual window-door, as you guys have?

I have a pair of Ma61 doors to swap onto my RA65 for this reason... but that requires respraying them forst. OR I could swap the winding parts. Have avoided this route so far as window winding mechanisms are known as a bit of a PITA...

For the 86 doors it is just four bolts as the entire mechanism from the MA61 is an identical fit for the manual 86 setup. probably takes about 15mins per door to take off the glass, remove manual mechanisms and replace with power setup and re-attatch window!

Sweet job on the conversion Beserker! those switches look perfect there! If anyone else is planning to mount the switches in the doors check that you can fit all the wires through the wiring hole in the doors, as I didn't have enough room due to speaker wires and central locking wires. but if you drill a 2nd hole or make the factory one larger by a little bit there wont be a problem, as long as you run the wires through a tube or get a grommet for the hole so it doesnt cut your wiring!

Now come on, I can't believe Beserker is the only other person to have tried this, and its been nearly a year since this thread was started! I thought eveyone would have been jumping on this, it makes summer so easy not having to lean across to wind the passenger window up and down!
    Cheers.

Yup...it sure beats having to lean over to wind the passenger-side windows up and down fo sure!

All I need now is remote central locking and AC for my car and I'm set for life LOL
