Default coffing, spiting and backfiring 4afc

hi guys just wanted to see if any body had any suggestions.
my 4afc coffs and spits really bad but only when its cold as soon
as it gets up to worm temp its fine not 1 spit.

i was told it could be a vacuum house off and when it gets hot it seals...

i looked around for any house that was off but alas I'm a baker not a carby know it all.
i had the carby tuned up and it helped heaps but it still pretty bad.
any help thanks if not i will just have to get the carby rebuilt again..
    thnaks,
    Craig

Late model carbs have so many vacuum hoses that it could be one or more of them, but "gets hot it seals" just doesn't happen. It warms up & doesn't need the choke, or the proper functioning of that particular hose any more, that's all.

Forget the "carby rebuilt again", it's more then likely the setup & adjusting of its external linkage for the choke & fast idle cam.

Has it always been this way, or did it happen suddenly?
Check that the linkages work freely and that the choke is closed with enough pressure to stay stay almost closed when cold & starting up.

verify correct ignition timing and cam timing first, then start looking for vacuum leaks IF the choke is operating correctly.....check on that choke first, like allen suggested.

    it just happened one morning.
it smells like un burnt fuel so i though it would be no spark but if i rev it and it spits the taco still climes up the revs.
and thats anther thing if its not in gear and just idling and i rev it, it dose not spit but as soon as i try and take off it spits

Sounds like my old twin-carby 323 lol.. As stated above - I'd be checking the ignition timing if you haven't already done that dude..
    Cheers,
    Paul.

    thanks for your feedback guys,

i pulled just about EVERY vacuum hose off and blue some air in there and put all back together.
it was still happening when cold so i really got the shits.

so i thought it must be the something like the ignition as it smells like heaps of flue in the carby (i know you theres normally flue fumes in there)
but it was like you just tipped flue in there so i though it was unburnt flue.

so i thought i would get a new ignition coil (even though the one in there was only 3 yeas old)
only $30 and got a new condenser as well (as that was still the original one)

and thought wile i was at it a new set of plugs wont harm it.
put it all in and went to work this moring a bit could and all good did not miss one beet but it is idling a bit low now when could.

Points?? Also could be a manifold leak on the intake manifold. Spray a soapy solution around between where the carby goes onto the manifold, and where the manifold goes onto the head. If it bubbles anywhere you have a manifold leak... otherwise you just gave your manifold a bit of a clean

Also how old is your dizzy cap, rotor button and leads??

But I would be leaning toward points... as the condensor would have helped the points regain some spark, but if they were stuffed, then the problem would come back.

ok, the dizzy and rotor are about 2 years old now but when i pulled it off the other day it was a bit dirty and i cleaned it.
i will get the points checked as well....
