Time for a reco or to get your current one reco if tapping it fixes it
Hi All,
My wife's camry wouldn't start after she had driven to the shops today. ( fortunately, before she called the RACQ, a bloke came and got it going for her)
The starter motor wouldn't operate until the guy tapped it with a screwdriver handle.
It was fine for the rest of the day. I've had this happen on other cars, but I haven't got a clue what causes it.
Is it a fixable problem or is it time for a reco starter motor??
If so, any suggestions on a decent place in brisbane to buy one from?
Cheers.

I am the sun
get a recond one and get a relay setup in there if it hasnt got it already
on sv21s they seem to benefit from this
Id suggest going to the FAQ part of the tech and conversions threads, up top of this one...
Then find warriors write up on adding a relay to the starter motor ignition wire, id put money on it that this will fix the problem for 10 bucks and a bit of your time.
Heres the address http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3334
It may have a topic of st162 starter etc, but the sv21 has the same problem.
(I had the same problem with my 162, i think just about every 162 celica driver and sv21 camry driver has had the same problem.
Good Luck

Thanks for the advice,
I'll install the relay before I race out & buy a starter motor ( it hasn't stuffed up since the other day) probably just jinxed it by saying that!!![]()
