Default 2t flywheel vs 3t flywheel

...just a quick question. Is there any difference between the 2?. I have a 3T motor in the car and want to know if I can interchange a 2t flywheel and clutch kit onto it as the 2T flywheels are easier to come by.

    Cheers,

they will bolt on to ether i know this, as far as ive seen there both the same, apart from in the usa, the 4speed t40 gearbox flywheel uses a bigger clutch. 2tg to any 2tc and 3tc flywheels ive had seem to be heavyer.

ive heard that the 3tc flywheel that had blue paint on them were cast from better metals and are stronger.

im runnin a 3tgte, and 1ggte flywheels, they bolt right up but use a bigger clutch again. and are a lighter flywheel.
all u would need is a spline put in the clutch plate to sute the t50 if ur useing it.

    hope this help.

Thanks Dan.......the reason I asked was that I was doing the rear main seal in my 3T and had bought a 2T clutch and flywheel that was lightened and balanced to be swapped at the same time........anyhow.....got to 10.30 the night before the swap and I was checking the Exedy online site and the 2T and the 3T clutches had different part numbers....so here I was freakin out thinking that I had wasted all this money on the 2T setup when it wouldn't fit........i was still 50% sure that it would be fine but just wasn't certain.......anyhow did the swap and she fits fine.......makes a noticeable difference with the lightened flywheel too.......thanks for providing the info.

Both the 2T and 3T flywheels will fit no problem.

If it was me I'd use the 3T and get the 3T clutch as its about 1/2 inch bigger in diameter and hence a bit stronger than the stock 2T.

They are easy to find as it was on the T18. Eg Buy a clutch to suit a T18 and it will be fine and you end up with a better unit. The T18 has a 3T and also a T50 gearbox just like the TA22 2T.

    Cheers,
    Simon

....yeah that's what I found off the Exedy site........3T is like 205mm in diameter and the 2T is 190mm...that's why i had the panic ........yeah it's a little smaller but when it burns out I know for next time.

I'm pretty sure the pressure plates are the same for the 2t and 3t clutches (at least from excedy) but the friction plate is different. So you should be able to just 'upgrade' the friction plate.
