It's got hoses that run to/from the steering rack.
    And connectors for power.

Not sure, I guess about twice as heavy - It's a bit bigger (longer) than an alternator.

    there about 5kgs from memory.
the only thing im still not sure about them is the psi there rated at, cant find any info and havn't tested one yet.
not sure if it will still turn the tyres with high loads also ie: front end of an mr2 would be light by comparison to a 1uztt 4wd ta22. would be nice to know first.
    cheers

MR2 version is commonly used in stockcars here in NZ, presuming you can find one. My brother has been looking for ages.

You can get really small hyd pumps from EATON. Probably around 3inch od and up to 6 inches long, but it's been long enough to blur any memory of capacities in relation to flow rates and pressures (though being used in hydraulic apps I'm sure it would have been enough)

Many cars just use an electric motor mounted on the steering column and avoid any hydraulics. They fit these to V8 supercars, so they'd probably be available as an aftermarket part, but I can't say anything about pricetag though...

interesting concept mrshin, i might dig into that.
quaiffe quick rack, powersteering ends and more teeth cut into the rack.

add the powersteering and it may be manoeuvreable in carparks....
