Have a look in the members rides section, youll find just about every conversion you can think of has been done in that section.

    3rzfe
    2jz
    1jz
    1uz

    etc etc

Anythings possible, it comes down to how much messing around you want to do to make it work, or how much you want to pay someone to do it, but i havnt seen it don, although thats not to say it hasnt been done.

    2WD or 4WD?

I happened to be looking at the dellows catalogue and I see they now supply a kit for putting the 1JZ into both... Awsome!

    4x4 with 1JZ powers!

You can change the type of handbrake too.. I think they use one from a four runner?.. Check out the 4wd monthly forums, they have heaps of people with hilux conversions. Usually 4wd, but still. Something to work with.

What does a late 80s 2WD hilux weight anyway? Are they full chassis like the 4wd variants?

It was stock in my hilux but they go from anywhere from 1000 - 2000 dollars for a complete motor with ecu and loom, there not a power house, but are are pretty good on fuel and will give your new como v6 utes something to think about.

You can even put comodore v8's and v6s in they sell conversion kits which makes it nice and easy, but a v6 conversion i wouldnt bother with, the 3rz would make similar power etc for less fuel and less rego etc etc.

Mine is turbo, which is another option but things start to get a little more expensive, it would be cheaper to run with a 1j etc if you were to tubro a 3rz and do conversion to put it in.

Theres lots of options it all comes down to your budget, how much you can do your self and what you want out of it.... Power, fuel economy, reliability etc etc etc.

Neonasty the 2wd variants are full chassis also.

Weights im unsure of everywhere tells you something different.

Read my Members ride thread and or the 3rz dedicated thread before you jump in, it will tell you that im in the middle of forging a bottom end cause the stock one exploded .
and read some of the problems others and i have ran into "pushing out big numbers", mine will be back on the road soon, but not before a forged bottom end is installed, a complete new fuel system etc.

But its all good fun and part of modifiing cars and it what you want to do not others, so good luck.

Have a read of various members rides threads and it will give some insight into what needs to be done to get them up and running.
