Default 1JZ turbo into ms 53 toyota crown??

Has anyone done this conversion and if so what are the tricks. I read somewhere the rear turbo fouls the steering box and the dipsticks in a painfull position. Are these the only downfalls?? also what sump do you need??

    Thanks Tony

You really need a true mid sump, courtesy of jzs14x? crowns. They are however, rare as rocking horse shit. Some have chosen to modify the pan on a rear sump, but a decent chunk needs to be removed from the front.

Yes, rear turbo will foul the steering box. You can attempt to make a new manifold to raise it up, go for a single turbo conversion, or use a Vvti 1jz variant which come with a single turbo from factory.

The left hand engine mount will sit right where the dipstick comes out of the mid sump, tapping the dipstick into a different spot isnt too hard. Just need to get the tube length spot on.

Rod (thetoyman75) has fitted a 2jzge into his ms57, 1jz would be the same in regards to mountings etc.

Radiator support will probably need to be opened up a little, to make way for a bigger radiator. I believe Rod is using an MX13 radiator which fitted up well.

Plus theres all the usual conversion stuff.. Efi system, wiring, halfcut + tank of fuel

    Cheers
    Phil

you can run a few of the later model ones, Ms 65,75,85 and even 112 however they start to have the adjustable speed sensor stuff.

I am going to try and fit a MS112 to to mine. Rod has a MS65 one in his car and its great to drive.

You also need a pwr steer coloum from the MS65 as its shorter to make up for the larger pwr steer box.

Rack and pinion could be an option after looking at my 7MGTE dump and my stock steering box, there isn't much more room for the higher pwr steer box, but I still have to look at that

After the money and Issues I had with my 7MGTE I some days think I should of just bithte bullet and spent the extra cash on a 1 or 2J
