    Default 4AFC ---> 4AGE head

    Folks

I've spent the last hour looking around here and twincam.info to see if this has ever been done?
Basically, I've an AE92 CSX with 4AFC motor and auto.
I essentially want it to be EFI with the 4AGE gear (so yeah I'll need a AE92 efi tank)

Does anyone know whether the 4AGE head (100kw) will fit on the 4AFC block. i'm led to believe they are the same (with the exception of the oil drain fitting on the 100kw motor)

Just a crazy idea I had this afternoon ; wondering if its worth entertainining?

Thoughts/comments, all welcome. Yes it will be kept auto.

it's the same.. but pointless.. the 4A-Fc has weaker internals, no oil squirters and ribbed block and it doesn't have an oil cooler from memory.. (the 4A-FE would have them) ..

and it being still kept auto, err... i dunno.. the ratios aren't suited the 4A-GE though..

there's info on it here, just have to search.. but at every conclusion, it's possible, but not worth it.. why not convert it?? it can't be that much more expensive, just get the engine, loom + ECU, and the fuel tank + fuel pump and wire it up.. shouldn't cost more than 1500 bucks and 20 straight hours?

vios........actually it does have an oil cooler....doubt whether the squirters are there and the drain sure ain't...

re: ratios ; u sure..........most/alot of 20v start off as autos till they are shipped here
i really don't want manual for a daily. i hate manual and traffic.

yeah i didn't have alot of luck with search here. i never do actually. i normally get 300 pages of stuff thats irrelevant (hence why i asked)

i can convert it ; i have a couple of 100kw motors here so might just pull one down ; get it machined and pop it back together and throw it in. knowing me it will prolly get a turbo and an LSD and 6 speed and i'll need another home to live in

20 straight hours. sounds like a pepsi challenge.....
sounds to me like a week or so off work............

i was told there are different gearboxes with higher ratios... but yea i've been dealing with a lot of dodgy in the past so i'm not sure how true it is...

so you seriously contemplating it? it would definitely be kept legal in a sense u're still using the original engine good luck with it eh.. and yea check the member's ride for turboed 4A-GEs.. there's heaps here.. talasas's is very impressive stuff

You may need to check out things like the lower cam belt pulleys as they may have different tooth profiles (I know the 4AC uses a much squarer toothed belt than the 4AG) as well as oil pump flow and pressure ratings, and the mounting of accessories like the alternator and power steering pumps.

To be honest a conversion is a much better solution than a head swap. Youll get the engine it was always meant to be and probably a much higher compression ratio too.

well since the older 4AC engine was the basis for the 4AGE.... in essence using a 4AF would be like using bluetop internals...

The problem is keeping it auto and benefitting with torque additions. A "G" head makes most of its power high up in the rpm range, not lower in the rpm range where an automatic vehicle prefers the power. if you have 7A engines available, I'd say a nice rebuilt 7A with a set of MILD cams would give you the best increase for your automatically equipped car

If you have a couple of spare 100kw motors lying around why not just pop one of those in and bolt the auto up to it? If you're running the 4age efi gear then you'll need to do all the wiring and converting to efi tank etc anyway, so why the desire to make a frankenstine 4af/ge?
