Default Locked keys in car. HELP! (no NRMA)

Need to break into my gf's AE92. I tried the coat hanger but that was no good. It's dark, I can't see shit and the radio/accessories are on slowly draining the battery.

I've tried a couple of other AE92 keys and snapped one of them. Smashing the rear quarter panel is becoming tempting. How much does a replacement cost?

If I don't have any luck tonite I'll get NRMA roadside in the morning.

Anyone know any other tricks or tips to unlocking the fucker without the key?

DO NOT SMASH THE WINDOWS! especially the rear one, it's rare and a bitch to replace.

I did this once and I must say that AE92s are one hard mofo to unlock with a coat hanger. What I ended up doing (partly luck) was that the window was down 1cm and I used a long straight rod to wind the window handle down enough for my GF to get her skinny arm in and unlock it.

I failed at trying to lift the arm which is attached to the lock button, on other cars I've tried it's usually pretty easy, the AE92 is pretty well designed.

The only other thing I can think of is get a long hook down to the boot unlocker and pull that up, didn't think of that one before

I'm assuming though that the windows are up so you can try prying them down with you hands (it might damage the winder mechanism tho). You may be better off trying to open the bonnet and taking the battery off and then trying to unlock it tomorrow. You need to find the cable that you pull to unlatch it behind the grill and then pull that with something.

Yah, don't break the little rear window, they're buggers to find - I actually had trouble getting one for my mother's car after some smartarse broke it in the carpark with a ball bearing. If you must break a window, one of the front ones is probably the easiest to get a replacement for, and doesn't take very long to fit.

Thanks, especially for the heads up re the quarter window. I had my carbon fibre knuckle gloves ready to go

I'll try again for the bonnet cable to disconnect the battery. What a pain in the ring!

julz get a piece of packing tape (blue shit) or something similar and staple some sandpaper to the packing tape and fold it in half
grab the top of the door and pull it outwards (will flex quite a bit without damaging it) and slide the packing tape over the lock snib (assuming the ae92 has one i think they do from memory) and pull tightly towards the back door and then lift up

does it have a central locking button on the door arm rest area it so try and get a coat hanger in the door the same way as the packing tape and try to hit the switch down on the unlock side

no packing tape or sandpaper here but I might give the C/locking button a go. it's located on the right of the steering wheel. It's not really working properly but it's worth a shot. ta

You should be able to pop the bonnet from outside, i do it on most toyotas, if the front bumper is open from under neith, get on the ground, reach up, and pull the doover where the bonnet release latches to.. I do it on my hachi all the time and my dads camry and such. Also i broke into a hilux before by remove the bottom strip on the drivers door, having a coat hanger do a 180 and put it in, then pulled up on the lock is specially easy if the window is all the way up.. Good luck !

No good. I've given up. thanks for the advice anyway.

popping the bonnet would allow me to disconnect the battery. Keys are in the ignition with accessories on and Jim Ball on 2GB is doing his midnight to breakfast show.

thank Christ the engine isn't running, that would really suck the fat one.

I KNOW HOW BAD THIS IS, i drove a mates ae92 for weeks when mine was having the gze put in, and he has two diff keys for ignition and doors and i locked myself out twice. THe first coat hanger attempt took a while but it is doable. ive done it like 5 times now and its pretty easy even in the dark

You will need a torch and it u look (down the gap of the window with the outside rubber remoed) you can see a little tab looking thing thats actually attached to the lock rod, pull this bastard upwards. It will prob take u while to seee it, its kinda inconspicuous. Good luck!
