Dammit. And i thought this was going to be a simple changeover...
going to look at the car tonight so is there a consensus about the difficulty of the change? easy or complicated? My feeling from the posts so far is "easy with trouble lurking"...

if it is just for the gbox, then not a worry! u will need:

    front half of tailshaft
    flywheel
    clutch
    brake/clutch pedals
    clutch line
    clutch master/slave cylinder
    spigot bearing
    gear stick

i think thats it! although i think ur speedo might be wrong... ur diff ratio will probably be an auto one

21R-C? if the 22RE thats in the ra65 is ok, just pull the long block, run the 21R manifolds and upgrade the carby!

Spew. SA63 with an 2S-C. W55 box. IRS rear. Still might grab her. Just concerned about bellhousing. Clutch seems same. Any SA63 guru's here? Now the topic title is wrong

ah dont bother... u'd be buying a car for just the gbox/pedals.... you would still need a bellhousing and appropriate clutch bits.

I just did an auto to manual conversion plus 21RC to 22RE conversion at the same time on a RA60. What i used:
    from an RT142:
clutch and brake pedals, clutch pedal box, clutch MC, motor, fuel tank, fuel pressure line, fuel filter, clutch fixed and flexible lines, xmember.
    from RA40
clutch, clutch slave cyl, tail shaft, W50 (could have used a W55 from the RT142, and retained the RA60 auto tailshaft, but that was for different reasoning, and the W50 suits the need), gbox mount, engine mounts
    kept from the RA60
speedo cable, speedo drive gear, extractors

As you can see, there is a fair bit of interchangeability. The only reason the RA40 tailshaft was used was because the RA60 item was too short, as the W55 and A40D is longer than the W50 and A30. rear half of the tailshaft is identical, as is centre bearing, unis and the yoke... only different part between all rwd celicas is the front shaft section. Inspected the RA65 box, and its identical to the RT142 box.

SA63's and RA65's have different rear tailshaft lengths due to the different lengths of the T and F series diff's respectively (I tired to put a T series shaft in an F series car once and trust me it didn’t work).

Sorry, yeah, overlooked the different diffs. So... you need the rear tailshaft section to suit the diff, and the front section to suit the box then, cause the centre bearing is in the same spot on the car for all of them. Oh, and the TA22 is special, as its got a different tailshaft, and the T50 yoke is different for the TA23.
