    Default TA22 shockers & suspension help?

    hey all

    got some serious shocker and suspension issues with my 22, im doubting if they have ever been replaced and i think i'm in need of some...

    however, my budget is tight... as i was planning on using my cash to fix the body and upgrade the engine.

    what's decent to get that wont break the budget?

    obviously not after the best here, but something that will drive solidly and not feel like its going to break down when going over a 100k's would be good.

    probably some shoter springs for that slightly lowered look but that's just an after thought.

    cheers
    jamie

    You should be able to buy new lowered Lovells or Kings springs for about $120-$140 a pair. As for struts/shocks, Pedders are cheap and nasty, Koni's are good and expensive. You pays your money and takes your chances as the expression goes.

    Try Pedders. I have lowered Pedders suspension in my 22 and it is awesome around corners. I cant give you a $ estimate unfortunately as the gear was in the car when I bought it, but Pedders being a common brand the price should be reasonable. If you get the $14 (i think) 20 point suspension and safety check done they give you a full written and itemised quote on how much everything will cost. Good Luck!!

    i think KYB shocks are a good, cheap and fairly sporty shocky, otherwise i would just go some monroe gt, or something.

    On a budget I'd be looking at KYB gas dampers for front and rear, and a set of coil springs (whichever brand you prefer). Keep in mind that no flashy suspension hardware is going to work its best as long as all your ball joints and suspension bushings are rooted; budget for a Mackay poly bushing kit (about $200) and a new set of ball joints (2) and tie rod ends (4) while you are at it.

    $200 suspension bushings
    $ 80 ball joints (pair)
    $120 tie rod ends (4)

    $300 coil springs
    $400 KYB dampers

    Hope this helps. I did a bit of suspension development to one of my TA22s, let me know if you want some details.
