What we need is less bogus applications... plain and simple.

Further to this river has also just been given admin rights in order to help Kirsty out. I'm sure this will improve things, but as has already been said by many, if people could just fill in all fields correctly (and let's face it, you have to put something in each field, why not the correct info?) we wouldn't have anyone whinging because their applications would be processed much more quickly.

If they want to avoid it, they can supply a complete and accurate brief to start with... I cant spend all my time sorting out their problems and not charge for it, the company I work for would go broke (it is a small firm and the profit margin isnt all that high).

The fact is, the client never realises the error until halfway through the design. Often the original design needs to be revised, and that costs them more too. Goes to show the cost of not knowing what you want upfront (shopping is cheaper when you have a concise shopping list, as you dont impulse buy as much)
OK, well you took that a level further than I thought! haha! All I was trying to emphasize was that the toymods application process doesn't allow you to go back once it's submitted. As a result you can't go back and fix your problem and the only way to fix is to get in contact with a mod. Who, understandably is very busy and doesnt reply. The only other option is sign up AGAIN which further increases the workload as kirsty needs to look over yet another account. Which again Kirsty mentioned as a problem as people create multiple accounts.

..and for the record I NEVER got an email stating I was unsuccessful. If I had I would have simply tried again.

Just change the form slightly to include warnings of what happens to your application if you do not fill in all the details correctly. I think in this day and age people are suspicious about handing over their personal details to everyone that asks, so the natural reaction is to omit the details that they may think are not important for joining a car based internet forum.

I doubt that they forgot, or had any malicious intent but just as self-protecting instinct states no-one (hackers, scam artists, stalkers, etc.) can attack you if they can't find you or know who you are.

I just reckon, if you can't get more people helping out, or you don't want to start sending emails to people when they don't fill out the form correctly, then you need to make sure they reaaaaally know what happens when the address or name is wrong. In big letters above each field... "Your application will be denied without warning if your correct ....... is not filled in here" and so on.

I found this to be the case, when i signed up some time ago. (I am not having a dig about it, just using my example as a basis for me to offer some suggestions)

I had filled out all of the information correctly, after a few months and a few e-mails with no response i tryed to make a new account as i thought i was overlooked, and in doing so i added to the problem. My main reason for doing so was that i wasnt aware of the time frame for an account to be approved.

** A few things that could help**

Is to mabey state an approx time for the process.

Also what you might find to be a big time saver. Is to only allow the use of ISP based e-mail address during the signup process these addresses are traceable and should basically eliminate the need for checking over each and every application

not everyone has an ISP based email though, if i had an ISP email it would just be another email address that is never checked

My ISP email is rarely checked, and subject to change without notice. It is a product of today's changing times with regards to internet connection availability, and newer better ISPs coming onto the market. My Yahoo email address which is commonly used here, and pretty much everywhere, however, hasnt changed since 2002 when I bought my RA23.

So yeah, ISP email addresses is a great idea, but is unfortunately not practical. I do like the suggestion of an approximate approval waiting time, but this may discourage people from joining altogether... certainly worth considering though.
