Default Can't get drums brakes off!!! 56k warning pics

Hey my rear drums are shot, so i got myself a new set, and I simply cannot get the old drums off.

I've tried hammering, and wd-40 but I can't get them off! (initially it wouldn't move at all, the hammering and wd40 made it move a fair bit, but not all the way) They come off to a certain point and refuse to budge after that. Are there any retaining screws or something?

I've never removed drums before, but i thought it would simply be a matter of, wheels off, handbrake down, and pull off with a bit of hammering...

    I have attached some pics

i see you've got two little holes there.. on the face of the drum where the wheel studs stick out... the two holes are below the top right most nut, and the bottom left one.. (1 o'clock and 8 o'clock position)

you could try getting two long bolts that fit into them, screw them in evenly, and that should push the drums out

that adjustment can be made through that long thin slot next to where the brake hose goes into the slave cylinder. you'll need a flat tip screwdriver to get in there to adjust a spiked wheel that loosens or tightens the shoes. It's more difficult to loosen than tighten the brakes through this hole due to a locking tab in there (might need to get fancy with two screwdrivers), but possible nonetheless.

Another option would be to release the brake hose to help the brake shoes move closer easier as you struggle - the drum probably has a lip over the inside edge of the brake shoes that you'll need to get over.

    Use a bigger hammer.

Thats what i did, worked for me, drum is pretty soft metal so i doubt you could crack it.

The two small holes are the answer you will be surprised at how well that works with the right size bolts, of course releasing handbrake is always a good thing

make sure the handbrake is off and wind bolts evenly into the 2 holes, turn them 1 turn at a time and it will push it off slowly

As the above guys have said the 2 bolt holes are the go, 8mm diameter ... as you screw the bolts in make sure the drum is pulling off square / evenly, turn each bolt a little at a time ... if the drum still turns its not getting caught on the brake shoes, keep turning in the bolts ... If the drum is unable to be turned it is jaming on the shoes & you will have to back off the brake aduster, dont need to touch the brake line / bleeder, the return springs on the shoes pull back the linings against the adjuster ...

If there is a major lip on the drums, prepare for it to fuck stuff up as you wind it off. Last 2 times I've wound off mega lip drums, they have snapped at least 1 of the little tops on the pistons on the brake cylinder.

I've managed to screw two bolts into those small holes on a ke35 before, bolts were about 10cm long at least and all they did was flex the centre of the drum due to the major lip I had - backed off the adjuster completely, removed the brake line - still no go. ended up using a claw hammer to get in between backing plate and drum to lever the bastard off. Lip didn't look that bad, but left a heavy scratch in the brake shoe as I wound it off.

Look for the smart ways of doing things first, but in the end brute force is sometimes the only way...
