Anybody got a pic of the harmonic balancer so I can see where the join is? I can't see mine in the car (too close to the rad) but wouldn't mind checking out a pic before pulling things apart

    Cheers
If the belts on tight there probably wouldn't be enough give in the belt for the belt / balancer to slip off.

Marking it with some white paint is a good idea.

The balancers come apart at the rubber joiner between the inner assembly and outer ring (as marked in pic below)

    The results are in..............

Its not the harmonic balancer, the paint marks are still aligned

The search continues, but after I fix the now rooted front brakes...

I've got a similar problem with my 1G... except it's my water temp gauge that goes crazy on boost! I'm 99.999% sure there are no bubbles, and I find the car misses a little on boost above say, 13psi. Sometimes it's really bad, with exhaust popping and smoke from what I think is unburnt fuel. I guess it is.

I've been trying to track down the source of the problem myself, it doesn't make much sense either. I just replaced the ignition leads and spark plugs - if this fixes my problem I'll be amazed (yet happy!). Still wont explain the water gauge... unless that is fixed too? Maybe the coil is having to work overtime if the spark leads are arcing?
