I would leave stock FPR in there. If you change it it just gives one more thing that "could" be wrong. I have faith in the stock one on my car. Works fine with stock rail, 550's and 044.
You don't have to put a FPR in if your running an aftermarket pump, unless of course your wanting to squeeze more out of your stock injectors?

Well if you need it back, theres a chance I may not need it.. seems my ECU wasn't the problem but I still gotta get the pcb fixed on it before I can try it again.Originally Posted by Danners

I do have a set of 2JZ 440cc injectors to put in. Would it be worthwhile installing these at the same time as the fuel pump?Originally Posted by Endless
I'm not sure what effect these injectors would have. I'm assuming I would have to use the SAFC to tune the mixture correctly as the ECU would still be expecting the standard ones (if its even tuned for them?!)
Dan
It's a good opportunity to install larger injectors if you were planning to do so. Obviously there's no point doing it with stock turbos but if you're planning an upgrade in the near future it's a good thing to have.

Big single turbo and manifold have already been purchasedOriginally Posted by Norbie
So, if i was to install the 440cc's, is there anything else I need to do or do they simply just drop straight in?
Thanks for the help so far guys. I can't tell you how much i appreciate it

440's are 15.7% bigger than stockers so you will probably have to pull fuel back out once they are in as even with walbro installed the fuel that is seen at the injectors should be the same if the fpr is left stock.
I would be installing walbro, 440's at same time. Leave FPR. Probably reset safc to 0. Take back to dyno and get tuned for whatever boost level you want to run. (Also, possibly look into what 2jzr31 has done using the map sensor as input for high and low "TPS" on safc instead of actual TPS)
If the flat spot isn't fuel related though then there could be an issue with the ignition timing of the mines ecu. As they can be tuned to any combo, it is a guessing game. I have no idea how you would find out what ignition timing is being run by one of them though?
Here is a possible test that I am not sure I should recommend.
If you normally use 98ron fuel. Go and grab some v-power racing and either some toluene or some GOOD octane booster. (I use martini racing) Or if you want just buy a small can of race fuel. Whack that in there on dyno. Run it on dyno. Still flat spot? If same afr's as previously and still have a flat spot then possibly disconnect knock sensors. If mines ecu doesn't go into limp mode (don't know if it has one?) then you could run it like this and see if flat spot dissappears. If it does then it would tell me that the ignition timing of the mines is too advanced at those rpms and setting knock sensors off which in turn pulls timing and reduces power.
Has anyone ran an emanage with a mines ecu? (maybe in US or Japan but can't think of any in oz?) If the above was the case then that is one option to take as long as the emanage can handle pulling out fuel but adding back timing. Maybe only emanage ultimate can do that.
Other option is sell mines ecu and slap a microleb in thereCan provide you with good working map should that be the case

ANyway, off on tangaents here.

Oh, only thing I forgot to mention. Depending on how big your "big" single turbo is, 440's may not be enough? If this is the case, then I would be seriously considering, 550's or bigger, microleb (as cheap 550's are low impedance) and selling mines.
So what turbo is it?
Man, this was over my head before your last email... sheesh!
The new turbo is a KKR560. I beleive it is capable of acheiving 300rwkw's. Knowing my luck, the 440's won't be up to this?

I'm seriously starting to think Microleb may be my best bet! I just don't have the cash right nowHow much would i be looking at?
Dan
Specifications for KKR560core:
Compressor inlet pipe 76mm, compressor outlet pipe 50mm
55 trim compressor; inducer 61mm, exducer 82mm
Turbine wheel outlet 56mm, outer diameter 73mm
a/r .84
Specs seem very similar to garrett gt3582R and hypergear TR44 highflow. The GT35 turbine outer is 68mm with 84trim so a bit smaller.
Should be no issues pushing over 300rwkw with this turbo. Don't know how much boost KKR recommend with their turbos but gt35's at 27psi will make about 350rwkw with good fuel and good tune on a 1j. So in saying that, it is up to you if you are going to be pushing the turbo to its limits. I think the turbo is going to be a bit laggy as it is essentially a non bb gt35. (diff between my tr44 and jampac's 3076, 24psi at 4000ish for him, 15psi at 4000ish for me, different cars obviously but that is an idea)
Personally, if you have a turbo that big and you want to realise its potential I would sell Mines, 440's. Grab a microleb and some sard drop in 650's (greenline). Sorry to say but I don't "think" the Walbro will be up to 350rwkw either so grab another one of them. lt12s's are about $1500 IIRC. PM 1jz747![]()
Shit gets expensive quick!
Or? Sell turbo, get kkr480 or HG tr44 (basically same IMO) use 440's, try with mines and an emanage and sell safc.
Or? Go 2jzr31 stylez and slap your walbro in there, get a FPR, bump it up, 440's, get your stock ecu back, FCD. Fun 20+ psi boost and tune via boost instead of safc![]()
I think that is is order of most expensive to least expensive and most desirable to least desirable (IMO) but hey whatever works![]()
Microtech LT10S will run a 1JZ nicely, about $1100 for everything you need. Then you're not stuck with some random tune setup by an unknown Japanese guy for an unknown Japenese engine.
Personally I'd be going for 550's with that target power level. You'd be pissed off if you upgraded to 440's then find you need to upgrade again.

You're a champ mate... I wish i could rep you again!
I've emailed the turbo supplier and have asked to swap for a 480. I don't want too much lag!
Have you heard of Adaptronic? Theres a guy locally who can supply, fit, and tune one for $1800.
I just ordered a new fuel filter as well, it'll also go on this weekend. In the end i think i may end up selling the Mines ECU and either putting the stock one back in and using the SAFC and 440's to raise boost cut until the single goes in, or simply go Microtech or Adaptronic.
I'm eventually wanting to take the car to the drags and follow in your footsteps!
Dan
I already have the 440's, so I guess i might as well use them while I have them?Originally Posted by Norbie
